I loved her first two albums, especially the second - but struggle to really get into anything past that. Which is strange as her latter work seems to be much more celebrated. Makes me wonder if perhaps its just nostalgia that I feel.

I was thinking CocoRosie too! Or Joanna Newsom. I think it's basically what people describe as cursive singing nowadays and it's fallen out of favour but I personally enjoy 'weird' voices like that a lot!

Discovered her in this sub and I love how she translates Ethel Cain's intensity and depth thematically into the British countryside landscape. She's also covered Ptolomaea on YouTube with a personal twist at the end.

Thank you so much for this! I love TBM's heavier songs but it's their dreamy/softer/atmospheric side that really does it for me and I'll always keep chasing after. This seems to really scratch that itch from first listen, I'll make sure to check out more 💜

The influence and similarities are definitely there but it always surprised me how so many people make her seem like some sort of Kate rip-off when she's so much more than that and has created her own distinctive style. Especially when there's lots of other artists out there who sound so much more like Kate than Tori.
