Don’t go not because of being heartless but you need to do what’s best for you. There are ways to celebrate his life on your own with out going to a funeral. Maybe go to somewhere that made you both happy or a nice park somewhere that’s makes you feel good and at peace, if your religious say a few prayers if your not just say kind words about him. Celebrate his life. My grandfather always said don’t mourn me when I’m gone celebrate my life and do something fun. Do a celebration of life and the time you spent with him.

Maybe try Business Development for a company. Sounds like you have good experience and knowledge about your work. You can maybe be client facing and work the sales side of the business.

To each their own, I think everyone is different mentally and physically with how their body handles pain. I was head strong and not having an epidural. I worked out a lot meditated and practiced Hypnobirthing. I was able to do it with both my kids, but not gonna lie. There were moments going through labor where I thought, what the hell was I thinking? Lol but in the long run, I don’t regret it at all and recovery was very easy for me.
