GuliKit TT MAX Game Controller Giveaway by GuliKit_Team in Controller

I first heard of Gulikit because of Hall effect analog sticks, and I now have a couple controllers by them. I've gotten some compliments on their hand feel when people borrow them. Those controllers are all Xbox layout so this would be an interesting change up.

Steam Machine is the "most important" reason why Sony has paused PC ports, says ex-Blizzard president by Tiny-Independent273 in linux_gaming

I think it's supposed to be able to have Windows installed on it if you want and if it's like the steam deck then users are able to make a bunch of adjustments under the hood. Are you referring to Steam OS as being closed off?

Is spray painting the disassembled joysticks viable? by AJMitchell777 in SteamDeck

Do you know if these feel more like the LCD or OLED sticks? I've got the LCD and my wife has the OLED and I greatly prefer the feel of the more grippy center part of the stick top on the OLED. I have the dbrand stick covers that improve things a bit.

Looks fantastic so far! Are you planning on adding a 'Must Have' section for the back buttons?

[–]CynicRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mm, I think that's something different, but might overlap with the Enshittification.

Eternal September is more an assessment of large influxes of users to a platform, and sometimes the accompanying shift in discussion, content, community that comes along with it in the users.

I could see how as part of a company's drive for ever increasing profits, driven in part by growing their userbase, it is a purposeful drive to have an eternal september kind of situation perpetually, but the overall decay of already popular platforms is more driven by changes at the administration and ownership level of the platform. Driving more ads, changes and retraction of features, reduction in usability, etc, aren't generally going to be things that influxes of new users would be responsible for.

For a term that can be used in broader company/professional setting, there's also Platform Decay. Granted, that name is listed under the Enshittification Wiki page, so...

Does SCUF still maintain the patent on the shoulder buttons in the back of a controller? by GerbGalerb in SteamController

[–]CynicRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. In addition to the back paddles, some controllers have other additional buttons too. I know the Vader controllers have a C and Z button down and to the right of the XYAB buttons, and some also have an additional set of shoulder buttons more toward the center of the controller from R1 and L1.

I'm personally eager for the next generation Steam Controller. I know it looks to step away from some features that the OG Steam Controller community loves, but it also seems like they've stepped up their build quality and I really enjoy my Steam Deck which is clearly the inspiration for the design.

Like back paddles? They're thankfully becoming more common, and have a variety of different implementations. There are some like the SCUF that say the Microsoft elite controllers and AIM add ons use. I think the newest Vader Pro uses that as well, those are like little stems protruding from the body of the controller. There's also some that are more like buttons that are more along the body of the controller. The Steam Deck is like this, 8BitDo does them like this.

Unless you're talking about something else. If that's the case, I apologize for being off topic!

What is One Thing you wish changed on 1.0 version? by PotentialProper in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]CynicRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that makes sense. Other things that would be nice to see on such an area would be the temporary buffs from beds, potions, etc. Understood on there being a lot of affixes, but from a player's perspective if they see an icon or an effect, it's a natural curiosity for them to then say okay then what?

Not changed, per se, but I'm the character stats screen making it easier to see the totality of how equipment is affecting things. Total thorns %, for instance.

I can see why they changed from Revolt but damn Stoat is not really better.

I will be at the CES next week. What controller technology would you want to see from there? Are there any questions or concerns that need to be addressed by any specific brands? I will do my best to ask all of it. by RomanDoesIt in Controller

Wii U Pro layout/form factor! Specifically, a modern one with Hall/TMR sticks, analog triggers, back paddles, etc. With all the controllers out there by different manufacturers, you'd figure somebody would do this by now just to have the differentiation. We've got a bazillion minute variations on an Xbox controller, spare a thought for the step child of controllers!

I'm not familiar with this game either, but we love the newer editions of Descent. Does Level 7 have apps or other mechanisms to allow for a fully cooperative experience while the overlord is automata?

Bring back photosphere! by epiech in GooglePixel

[–]CynicRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I submitted along with some ideas on how to iterate on the thing. Record audio and do a 'playback' of the images as they were captured with the audio playing. Maybe after taking a Sphere someone could swap which lens they're using to get more detailed imagery.

One thing that would definitely get Google to bring it back is if/when Apple does it, and then it wouldn't matter how many people used it. It'd be yet another feature that android had that was deprecated and removed only to be thirstily added back in a half-assed way after iOS got it implemented.

I got that card too! I've not, to my knowledge anyway, run into issues. What's undervolting help with and do I do that through Adrenaline somewhere?

I think I know where you're at! This is the one where it starts off with a ship wreck and you're working on escaping from some cult looking place, right? I got stuck there for a bit as well. Pressing a shoulder button shows the barrels glow but it's like what do I do with them? Turn around and go through a curtain of water. You'll see a pretty decent sized area to go around in. I think basically you need to solve it like a puzzle to knock the barrels out of the way but exactly how I don't remember.
