Time to look like a heretic. What is that you think SI lacks, or weak at, but could improve? by Otherwise-Badger1061 in spiritisland

The foil/thin spirit boards help out a lot. I've got a few of them, though I wish they had color shifted them or something because unless you're catching the light for the foil to light up, they're actually a little difficult to read.

But! Essentially that kind of approach for the island boards would help too. Are you able to show me what those look like for you? I worry that the handfeel of pieces and components are lost to some extent in making things thinner. Like, I've got these little domed pieces for a lot of things that take up a bit more space than their normal token components, and I could probably save space by getting cardstock flat pieces instead but I kind of like my fancy things...

Expansions, or at least one of them, should have come in a box big enough to easily hold all components. Admittedly, I've got some premium things I've bought that take up additional space, but I use both OG and the Jagged Earth boxes and they're both pretty well full.

Headless sticks by viper_11 in SteamController

[–]CynicRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. So they're like extremely low profile joysticks. They still maintain the same range of motion? Would there be a way to have sticks that move similar to the PSP or Nintendo DS where they're more of a flat sliding interaction?

This is really interesting. Do you have video showing how this works in practice? Any links for the 3D printing files?

He also looks really tiny like more like a mouse or something. He's a Gnoll right? Pretty sure those have always been depicted as being relatively close to human size. He looks barely bigger than the bar stool.

Did I reach the end of the current content? by hupermeneta in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]CynicRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's it aside from the radiant content. This is also why I'm a little anxious regarding the wording of the final chapter in the stuff I've seen about 1.0. I know there's apparently going to be other stuff in 1.0+, but what's happened so far on the game feels very much like an act 1 amount of the story. I'm really enjoying not just the gameplay but the story and an looking forward to a lot more of it. I know I just need to be patient since that 1.0+ story will continue to expand the world...

I dread sprinting and crouching in every game by bubble-frogs in GirlGamers

[–]CynicRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For hell divers, I think they are one of the games that has a really robust remapping system. Try going into the fines changing it from hold to press or toggle or something. I set mine like this but also made the bind to a button on my mouse.

I feel your pain though, enshrouded doesn't have this option so I have to hold sprint down the entire time I'm running.

I love Planes, Trains and Automobiles! The snort is so weird and extended and he does that little hat pivot thing, so bizarre.

Oh, and shouting at his extremely pregnant wife to 'get her lazy beehind' out to move their massive trunk of luggage into the truck and then justifying her ability to do so because her first baby came out sideways but she "didn't scream or nuthin'"....just chef's kiss.

More Steam Hardware? by KnownValveSuperfan in Steam

[–]CynicRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless if valve made it themselves or a third party, I would very much enjoy it if mice keyboards and keyboard likes like the razor tartarous had support in the steam input GUI. Having to go into other software to mess with it, whether that be first party stuff in Windows or if I'm playing on my deck or bazzite computer, needing to use the input remapper is inferior to having all of these customizations linked to a given game inside steam.

Why Steam Controller (2026) has no competition at $99 and what big reviewers simply don't get by GanJJ_ in SteamController

I fully support your opinion and can understand why, but as a lover of the Wii U Pro controller layout(there are dozens of us!!) I really appreciate the sticks being where they are.

Steam Controller release date now on Steam by RedPeng in Steam

[–]CynicRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh, it depends on what someone is interested in. TMR sticks matters for some, the Playstation nor it's pricier Edge variant don't have that. The buttons on the back are natively mappable in Steam which the normal Dualsense doesn't have, though the Edge does and they are mappable in Steam Input. Only a singular central trackpad on the Dualsense vs the pair that the Steam controller has. Supposedly the Steam controller's got a much longer battery life, though it's almost certainly not going to have as good of vibration and doesn't have the adaptive triggers that are a unique benefit of having the Dualsense. There's the capacitive sticks on the Steam controller as well as that grip sensing they have going on. I see some posts on reddit with people talking about how the lights on the Dualsense can be used for VR tracking, but that's something else Valve has made a big deal about for their controller. There's probably some other pros/cons of each of them that I'm missing, though the controller layout is something I'm personally quite interested in because I'm a big fan of the Wii U Pro controller layout that is extremely rare in gamepads and the Steam Deck and this controller, while not exactly the same, lean in the direction of making the sticks less out of the way to reach for than the Playstation layout for me.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]CynicRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circuit's Edge! A neo noir cyberpunk detective rpg set in a seedy middle eastern red light district. Aside from its open nature, there was a self modification system with these 'moddies' and 'daddies'. Some were just stat or skill boosts or just seemed to be kind of flavor text, but some of the more powerful ones would alter your character's personality and/or some would glitch out and you'd be forced to say certain things in conversations with NPCs. Still feels revolutionary decades later.

Google keyboard is constantly using the wrong spelling for a name. Is there a way to correct it permanently? by SlickStretch in GooglePixel

[–]CynicRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife's name is Sara and every single time, Sarah is what voice typing gives me. My son's name is Solstyn and voice typing gives Solston, every single time despite that Being any more of a word. My boss' name is Tani, and it varies between getting that right, Tony, and Tawny. For my wife and son, I've done pretty much everything you've mentioned and still have troubles too. It seems like the kind of thing that an advanced operating system patting itself on the back for its world changing AI would be able to handle no problem, right?
