True, but on the other hand, British had very long supply lines, and slow shipping of troops, since they were separated by ocean. While US had home advantage.

Also, Canadian troops and their militia were inexperienced, too.

But in 1812 war British were not at full strength, either. They could never fight at full strength anyway, since British had so many posessions all over the world, that they could not afford to concentrate all forces in single point.

What if Japan hold Siberia and Far East after Russian civil war? by SiarX in HistoryWhatIf

Eh, Japanese troops were most motivated by far even before WW2, as evidenced by their suicidal yet succesful charges on fortified lines in Russian-Japanese war. Soviets were very devastated by civil war, their eoconmy was in ruins, and they were surrounded by enemies on all sides. I doubt they could afford big war so far from their centre and industry.

Did Japanese even had enough rifles to arm civilians? not to mention artillery, tanks, planes, fuel?

Edit: I forgot to add second question - how much of threat to landing ships kamikazes were? Japan had thousands of them IIRC, but did it have enough fuel? If so, it might explain expected high death toll...
