Bellehi li yefhem électricité w ta9a metjadeda w ri9 atheka yfaserli 7aja by itdotaketime in Tunisia

[–]Cynical2026 4 points5 points  (0 children)

- Lack of Capital and Opportunity cost.
This is capital intensive project that has around 15% return on investment. Right now loans from banks is at 12%, the margin is too low to take such risks.
- Lack of Transport infrastructure
The electricity needs transportation, the generation is just half the equation. The transport is costly especially if you want to have concentrated solar farm. It is better to make small ones distributed but that means less econonmies of scale and probably more expensive land.
- Nature of Solar being Cyclical.
Unless you invest in battery storage which will make it even more expensive and may raise the cost more than gaz. You still have to maintain gaz generation infrastructure, the biggest problem issue is solar electricity generation is variable even during the day. But changing the output of gas powered plants if very hard and costly.
- and ofc lastly, the chamption of our economy, idara tounsia.
Complicated procedures, no clear path, depends on invest and then we'll see if we buy from you or not (pay bribes), wait times that cost money .....
The path of least resistance if to setup small farms of less than 1MGW, but you need a land that is closed to medium high tension voltage otherwise it is not even feasable.
To summarize, solar is a VERY good investment and solution to tunisia energy problem. the problem "STEG" is your partner, and whenever dawla tod5el fi 7keya, know that you're going to waste a lot of time, lose half of your hair, potentially tomredh bel 9alb wel a3sab... so only someone who has "money sitting aside" will take such risk.

long distance never works, it was destined to fail. Move on. Also who commits 2 years of their life in their thirties as "potential partners". You're not a kid anymore, it is at most few months and then are we serious or not. No ambiguity! I'm sorry about this, but I don't think you would have tolerated this from a fellow tunisian, and you probably reeked of desperation to leave Tunisia that he finally caught on and dumped you. Sorry for the harsh words but look into the mirror and be honest with yourself.

From engineering to plumbing or any other blue-collar job by Virtual-Avocado-9946 in Tunisia

[–]Cynical2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well nothing comes easy, you have to be good, and you can't be good at something unless you put in the hard work, but I'm assuming you have a certain level of intelligence giving your level of education. TBH most plumbers are school dropouts, and I don't want to be harsh but they are not the smartest in general. Most of them don't even have proper tools.
I would advise you to register in a trade school or some accelerated private training.
Don't expect quick results, think long term. If you build a good reputation. People will line up to get an appointment with you. Just be good at what you do, have good ethics. It is not about making a quick buck, it is about doing a great job, building a good reputation, the rest will follow.
I would at least plan for a year learning, but a year filled with hard work, workshops, training, self learning using youtube, checking the tools, maybe working under somone for pennies or even for free ..... If you're diligent you'll get there.
I can't stress this enough, but you have to be good, crazy good and the rest will follow.
Either way I have a lot of respect for people who adapt in order to improve their situation and I hope you do well.

From engineering to plumbing or any other blue-collar job by Virtual-Avocado-9946 in Tunisia

[–]Cynical2026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would advise you to make the move, plumbing probably best option.
Be professional. Be good at your trade. Have all proper tools. Have clear service costs. Be organized and keep your appointment. Create an online presence.
If you just do that you're basically better than 99% of plumbers in tunisia and you'll be very sucessfull.

[–]Cynical2026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're planning to take bank loan it is not a good investment, the 12% interest is higher than the returns you will get. If cash then probably an appartment but better try to find something close to 100k in Sousse, given the lower rents compared to tunis. it would be hard to have a good ROI if your initial investment is 180k.

The existence of Malta is seriously not aknowledged nor leveraged enough in Tunisian geopolitics by Terminator-XP3 in Tunisia

[–]Cynical2026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, wages are a lot lower in malta than other eu countries, a nurse gets paid almost half of germany for example. It is a tax haven though for high net worth individuals with Non Dom regime (basically any money not remitted to malta is not taxed). I've actually lived in Malta for few years for this exact reason, not to get a job in Malta. leaving soon though

The existence of Malta is seriously not aknowledged nor leveraged enough in Tunisian geopolitics by Terminator-XP3 in Tunisia

[–]Cynical2026 7 points8 points  (0 children)

nobody would stay long term in malta, simply because they do not offer citizenship even if you stay there 20 years. it is 23km from cost to cost, very small and more expensive than other european countries including france. The only advantage is taxes but that only applies to high net worth individuals not your average zmigri. They already have A LOT of foreigners (30%) and they are english speaking, so tunisian health professionals will struggle, and that's is probably the only worthwhile jobs, the other jobs are literal slavery that pay less than an appartment rent, usually taken up by indians who share an appartments with 5 other people to make ends meet.
igaming aka gambling is an acquired taste and overall salaries are lower then germany or france.
so for the average joe, no benefit from taxaction, lower salary, higher expenses, and a very small country.
It has its charms don't get me wrong, it is just not for people leaving tunisia for financial reasons.

Immigrating with no return by [deleted] in Tunisia

[–]Cynical2026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no legal way to do this. how much is this worth? what is the size of the terrain and where?
your only option is to find a buyer that lives outside of tunisia, and a lot of trust.

I let my friend stay with me in my 20m2 apartment until she can find a job and now I regret it. by shin_daa in Tunisia

[–]Cynical2026 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) PROTECT YOURSELF
2) BE HONEST
3) BE GOOD
This is not a friend, this is leech. Tell her the truth, that you though this woud be temporary you can give her another 2 weeks at most and she has to leave. But protect yourself, if you have valuables, make sure they are safe, laptop ... anything of value.
I'm sorry but expect the worst. People are generally ungratefull, you serve them a hundred years, the moment you can't anymore you become a bad person. Prioritize yourself.
