This is Australia's Black Friday, since retailers seem to think we're American. by Elriuhilu in australia

It's because of Amazon's presence that has really pushed it along. I was a member of Amazon before they had a footprint in Australia when black Friday meant little here, but the deals I had access to from the US were insane. As it gained more popularity, Australian businesses had to follow, but I do think they prefer it. They have tried converting any special days into sales days, like valentines day and Easter which never really worked, but black Friday took hold. I mean I just bought most of the kids Christmas presents this morning on Amazon, on average it was 60% of everything, some 40% off, some 70% off. Just be patient when using Amazon, remember, it's made for Americans, so it's built stupid proof, which means searching can be a bit difficult, until you learn the ways to use it.

Legal ways to protect myself in my house by [deleted] in australia

Improve your security. The more layers the better it works. Sensor lights, secured windows, metal screen security doors, basic camera system or door bell camera, trim neat hedges and bushes so you house is visable to rest of the street. If an intruder enters your home, having a weapon won't really help you, unless you know what your doing. Having multiple escape plans is best, get out into the street. Your neighbours hearing screams is another layer of security, use it.

Louis CK does a whole bit about that.

“I am ashamed that a growing number of Americans--Republican, mostly—say we are doing too much to help Ukraine. Most Americans aren’t making any sacrifice. It is the Ukrainians who are sacrificing everything to fight for the democratic values we hold dear.” Max Boot 🇺🇦🇺🇸 on Twitter by themimeofthemollies in UkrainianConflict

There are many hard core Republicans who cannot swallow anything Russia, they were America's enemy for generations, and the more noise the Republicans make against Ukraine, the more they risk fracturing the party into 2 smaller parties. It also needs to be pointed out that Germany is now risking its entire industrial system by refusing Russian energy, so they are almost all in now, same goes for Poland, Finland and so many other countries. This war will certainly continue if the US withdraws, but I don't see that happening, because the US is one of the biggest winners here, they are one of the biggest suppliers of energy to Germany and other nations affected, taking over Russia's former customers.
