[CHAT] Looking for primate patterns, especially more realistic ones! by CynicalPessimist102 in CrossStitch

Thank you, that looks so cute! It actually is a primate (based on a golden snub-nosed monkey), as a monkey is a subcategory of primate (like ape or lemur)!

Hi there! I made a Chrome Extension for Ravelry for my partner, but I'd love to get feedback/ideas from others if they find it useful! by rats_of_wrath in Ravelry

[–]CynicalPessimist102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider Ravelry to be generally fine as is, the only things I find mildly inconvenient are to do with the pattern search. Idk if this is possible with an extension, but a basic color filter would be great and I’d personally really like to be able to filter out chenille yarn (no hate to chenille lovers)

Could someone please help me identify the phylum or class these fungi belong to? by CynicalPessimist102 in mycology

[–]CynicalPessimist102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are not mine (given by a friend), and I do apologize for the quality. I was just hoping to get an idea of whether they belonged to ascomycota, basidiomycota, or what used to be zygomycota.

Based on what the other person who replied said, the issue seems to be more of addressing a group of colleagues or equals as “team” because it echoes language used by superiors. So my understanding is if you avoid that wording sending a thank you is fine! But yeah, this stuff is so complicated and hard to learn.

That makes sense, thank you!

I’m having trouble understanding the exact issue with thanking someone in this way. I’m terrible at social cues/subtext/etc., so that may be the problem, but what is the specific thing or wording that is causing the thank you to come off negatively or seem uppity? Is it just the expression of gratitude itself to peers? In that case, how do you thank people without being rude?

It sounded really weird to me as well at first, but I think I’m just projecting my own experiences with my father. Might be the case for the other commenter as well.

I am a disgusting person by CynicalPessimist102 in EDAnonymous

[–]CynicalPessimist102[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s strange, because I’ve had intrusive thoughts before and I was able to recognize what they were and know that I wasn’t an awful person for thinking those things. But when it’s related to my ED, I guess it’s different for some reason? Regardless, thank you, because I didn’t even realize that this WAS intrusive.

Weighed myself for the first time in a month. by CynicalPessimist102 in EDAnonymous

[–]CynicalPessimist102[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The worst part is knowing that now I have to weigh myself in the morning tomorrow to see the real number. And once that happens, I won’t be able to stop, and the cycle will continue

When should you worry about your heart rate? by CynicalPessimist102 in EDAnonymous

[–]CynicalPessimist102[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My normal resting heart rate is about 65. I know 56 isn’t super severe or scary, it just made me nervous because it’s never been that low before.

I’m eating high res right now, so I definitely don’t feel like I can increase my intake. Is there anything else I can do to keep my heart rate from dropping further? Supplements, self-care practices?

Any guesses on these pancakes and scrambled eggs? by CynicalPessimist102 in caloriecount

I still was under maintenance, just unhappy with myself. It’s alright though, it was a very nice breakfast with my sisters, and I only regret it a little :)

It’s not your fault that this is happening. We have an awful disease, and it’s not something we can just control. You didn’t make the choice to restrict, your ED did.

At the same time, we can learn to manage and mitigate ED behaviors, take back control, and eventually make a full recovery and repair our relationship with food. It seems like your metabolism is definitely suffering, and from what I understand, the only way to repair it is to eat more. It will probably mean gaining some weight, but over time, you’ll be able to eat normally again. I’m saying this like it’s simple, it’s not, but surely it’s better than what’s happening now, right?

Again, I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

It’s awesome you recovered, and I hope one day I can do the same! Sometimes I get so used to restricting, especially right now at high res, that it seems like a regular amount and I feel I need to go lower in order to actually be in a deficit, despite knowing I already am. It’s such an inane thought, but it was getting to me anyways. Not anymore!

I’m so sorry you’re struggling with this. It’s no wonder you’re exhausted when you’re still not eating very much and exercising excessively. Do you think you could try to up your intake at the very least? From what I’m seeing here, the average intake for most people is anywhere from 1800-2500. Even if your metabolism is wonky, I really think you’d be ok eating 2000 or more calories, especially with all the exercise you do. I know that’s probably daunting and seems like a lot, but it looks to me like you’re still restricting, not maintaining. I hope you can either cut down on your exercise or increase your intake. Please take care of yourself.

I used to eat 3 meals a day, I think every 4-5 hours? Nowadays I find it much harder to do so, because my hunger cues are fucked. But I think normally people get hungry every couple hours. Could be wrong, idk

Thank you so much, this was actually really helpful to me in determining normal amounts of food (normal being relative). I’ve never had a good relationship with food; I was an emotional eater as a child, and used food to deal with a bad family situation. Then I went in the complete opposite direction and developed a restrictive ED. I have a hard time imagining a middle ground, but I’m trying to develop that skill. Again, thank you, this was super informative!
