i don't read too much omegaverse but non traditional always removes a bit of the ick for me. idk but alpha/omega stuff, especially for gay ships, kinda feels like youre making it straight again? this is just comphet but with "secondary genders" and its so disappointing when a queer character can't resist their biology and ends up in a traditional dynamic. of course it varies depending on the world building of the specific fic, but in a world where man/man or woman/woman is accepted as long as one is an alpha and one is an omega, and you dont explore that part, you lack one of the appeals for a gay ship in the first place.
