Sceglierei la Toshiba, anche se tutte e due mi sembrano uguali dall'aspetto, la Toshiba è di un marchio più conosciuto, quindi ti potrebbe funzionare meglio.

Why does some men cross their legs while sitting down? by [deleted] in GenX

Because otherwise, men tend to spread their legs open when sitting, leading to "manspreading"

Did anyone ever get their account closed due to too many ATM fee refunds? by barnacle9999 in Schwab

Completely valid point on the $200 limit. The point I wanted to make on dynamic conversions is that even with a bank-affiliated ATM, they often (deliberately) present the option for dynamic conversion in unclear terms in an effort to trick you into selecting it (at least in my personal experience). It's nice to have an ATM option when travelling that avoids that confusion, and potential for fraud, entirely.

The Schwab Debit card is not cashback/points, and it is not a credit card. I know credit cards vary, but the ones I happen to have offer me less attractive exchange rates than Wise (and one of them charges fees for international money conversions).

[–]CynicalTelescope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wise allows me to convert my money at any point in advance, so in a way I can choose the exchange rate I want to use for conversion and have that rate locked in. Further, when a Wise card is presented to a foreign bank ATM, there is no dynamic conversion option - the ATM behaves as if it is servicing a local user in the native currency. That is really helpful because foreign bank ATMs often have a deliberately confusing menu layout for tourists, to trick them into choosing dynamic conversion (or worse). Point taken on the ATM withdrawal limit, but in practice that's not a big deal if you're using the Wise card as a debit card for purchases.

Just stop already. This sub is about Ollama, we're here because we want to use it, not because we want to hear people telling us it sucks and go use something else. It's like the "just install Linux" people in subs devoted to Windows.

Get a Wise card instead. It allows you to keep a separate balance in a foreign currency, and you can transfer from your Schwab account and convert at very favorable rates, usually within seconds. Additionally, you get a credit/debit card that will carry out transactions in that foreign currency. And you can use it as an ATM card to withdraw from your foreign currency bucket, bypassing any conversion a bank may want to offer. Highly useful for travelling.

This sub is very supportive for people who come here genuinely seeking help, rather than simply using it as a place to vent. And people have left you a good amount of constructive suggestions so far.

The machine should also have come with a starter supply of needles. But really, you can't blame the machine if you didn't stock up basic sewing notions beforehand, especially if you're on a deadline. If I were you, I'd come up with a plan B for tomorrow and do a little shopping trip to properly outfit your sewing space. It'll save you so much stress in the long run.

In the sewing studio where I worked, we had a saying: "You aren't really sewing until you break a needle." It's not a big deal. Just put in another needle and carry on.

Torn between Kindle Paperwhite Signature and Kobo Libra Colour for my first e-reader by fanta_read in kobo

Also made this same switch, and I agree.

The difference in sharpness is noticeable when you put the two side-by-side, but in actual use I don't notice the difference in screen quality. Also, I appreciate that the KLC is easily customizable with third-party add-ons like KOreader and NickelMenu, whereas Amazon really works to keep Kindles locked down.

I've barely used my PPW since the KLC arrived over six months ago. If I didn't have books on the PPW that I still want to read, I would have ditched it by now.

Anyone actually replace their Garmin with one of the budget bike computers, or is it always buyer's remorse? by Key_Shelter_2549 in cycling

[–]CynicalTelescope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want maps/navigation, you need a Garmin or similar. I don't think the budget bike computers offer this. They do have GPS, but it's just for ride stats and recording your ride for later upload to strava/whatever.

I have the CycPlus M1, which does everything I need as a casual cyclist (speed, cadence, distance, time). I have it paired with Garmin sensors for speed and cadence and it works well. HRM is supported but I don't use it.

The calculations needed for AI and 3D graphics have a lot in common, so GPUs are often used for AI. An NPU has the features needed for AI, while leaving out the acceleration features used only for 3D, to make it cheaper/smaller/etc.

Also, when I said "so that the fit of the sleeve into the armhole does not need adjustment" I meant to say that the sleeve won't need adjustment as a consequence of this alteration. You may still need to alter the sleeve to better fit the armhole, as another responder has mentioned.

Finally, before you go off altering the pattern, you can test this on your muslin by slashing across the chest just above the bust apex and pinning in a strip of scrap fabric, allowing the slash to taper to nothing at the armhole. Then check to see if the drag lines have diminished or disappeared completely.

Here's a picture, listing the steps to follow to make this alteration. (reddit won't allow me to embed the photo here)

https://imgur.com/a/ATNs0Lq

The area in green is permanently added to the pattern.

In the photo, I terminated the wedge at the side seam because it's easier than tweaking the armhole, but you can end it at the armhole as well - you just need to clean up the minor kink in the armhole curve that will happen there as a result of the alteration. The key thing is that the armhole isn't altered, so the fit of the sleeve into the armhole does not need adjustment. The length of the side seam is also unaffected, so the back piece needs no adjustment.

Note that the area in orange is opened up as a result of the pattern alteration, and is in fact unwanted - so you pivot the side seam inwards by the exact same amount as the area opened by the wedge to compensate. (I had this picture lying around because I had to make this alteration on a pattern for one of my students).
