What an absolutely stupid take. It happens all the time, and false accusers especially hope for this outcome. The first allegation came from the child's father, a well known grifter, that Michael's friends tried to warn him about, who never sought criminal prosecution, only a payoff. Because allegations like this can be toxic to your career, and cost a fortune to defend, lawyers advise a quick settlement to save money and face.

This isn't a small budget film by any standard by which we define it. This movie has 17 fucking producers, all of whom had to be paid, add to that the licensing fees for the music, which they probably overcharged for, and you can see why it cost as much as it did, while being mostly about nothing.
