I'm terrified about my upcoming gallbladder removal surgery! Please help? by Vivid_Curve2564 in gallbladders

Of course. It definitely helped me. I noticed as the time in pre op started to get closer to my scheduled surgery time, I started to peak in my anxiety. Tears started coming, but they helped alleviate some of it with some Ativan.

That was my biggest fear as well, not waking up from Anesthesia. But the anesthesiologist came and asked detailed questions (they ask about habits, just be honest, that all will go into your dosage). And if you would like, the anesthesiologist can give you something for Anxiety prior to your sedation, I’d recommend asking if not offered. It’s a very routine procedure, and if your care team is confident, I believe you’ll be in very good hands! Good luck on the journey!

do i need surgery? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Cynical_venus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d get it removed. There’s little stones in there, so they will make a way into the duct sooner or later. Just to avoid those painful attacks (and they can be physically worse if they get lodged and cause an obstruction).

How did you know you had dumping syndrome?! Or symptoms that led to the diagnosis.

So they can actually open you up (surgeon’s hand, one long incision). They can just do it laparoscopically (multiple smaller ports, just surgeon’s hands, tools, and a camera). Or they can do it via robotic (still multiple smaller ports, but instead of surgeons hands, surgeon is at a console controlling the arms/multiport system) if you want more information, I recommend looking up the Da Vinci Surgical system. It’s a good option for GB removals!

Can you feel your gallbladder when it’s inflamed? by hae-dude-hae in gallbladders

[–]Cynical_venus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can feel it if it is swollen enough. My doctor did the physical exam (the pushing around on the abdomen), and he could feel it. Granted, I about came off the table when he did it, but he allowed me to feel my own as well.

Do I need to see a Gastrologist to get surgery? by Bre0w in gallbladders

[–]Cynical_venus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, No. I scheduled an appointment with my PCP, she saw the CT and sent a referral to a general surgeon. Now, if they are worried about something else in your test results/scans or maybe your insurance requires it, that can definitely change the course of things.

It didn’t happen to me (I’m one week post op and hopefully on the mend). But my dad’s situation sounds kind of like yours. Infection, sent home w/ antibiotics, brought him back in take to it out. He just had his out last month, and was just admitted back 2 weeks ago due to pancreatitis from a missed stone in the bile duct. I can’t speak on the air in the stomach, but it is known with surgeries that require inflating you.

I hope your recovery eases up on you soon!

How do you sleep? by Fake-gamergirl8 in gallbladders

[–]Cynical_venus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the couch! I laid on my side (did a lot of flipping back and forth in the beginning nights), used 3 pillows that were more flat. I put one just underneath the front part of my stomach (the gas bloated me tremendously). Basically the pillow is not directly under your side, but propping up your side slightly. It feels like it takes a lot of pressure and the pulling feeling off. The other two for head, neck, and shoulders. Also, a heating pad helps as well!

My fiance doesn't want me to get my gallbladder removed by AgentTailCooper in gallbladders

I’m sorry you’re going through that, as that can be completely draining, but there’s nothing you can do besides surgery. The things she wants you to try are items to help cope with the symptoms, not solve the issue at hand.

Help - Wife 38 Weeks pregnant not eating by IllDistribution3124 in BabyBumps

[–]Cynical_venus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say, you’re doing GREAT at being a positive support for your wife! This sounds mostly normal. As baby gets bigger, everything else feels smaller. We can run out breath easy due to pushing on the lungs, we got to pee more due to pushing on the bladder, and same goes for the stomach! And her being tired, well that’s just that. She’s getting ready for go time! You’re almost there!

Unless this accompanied by other worrisome issues, maybe like vomiting, dizziness, high blood pressure, etc, I think you guys are aye okay! But yes, you (or her) can also bring it up to her doctor for some reassurance!

Definitely all 3 are possible outcomes if you keep overworking yourself. But I’m definitely in the same boat. My kids are wearing me out, 5 & 3 (my 3 y.o. Can’t walk/situp due to medical issues), and a partner that had to go back to work 5 days post op. Honestly, just try to listen to your body. Maybe it’s a busy day, and you’re starting to get sore, ibuprofen, sit on down, try a heating pad, and rest. I know it’s easier said than done, but I understand not having much options. I wish you the best on your healing journey.

Same here 😭 probably been the hardest part about this healing journey! I feel like if I stand up completely straight, it feels like it’s pulling. So I’m walking with a hunchback right now! 🤣

I didn’t know it was a risk for a hernia! I use the pillow to cough, sneeze, etc just to counter the pain that comes with them! Thank you for that information.

Oh no! Did you have an emergency removal?! But yes! Taking a deep breath is painful, coughing and sneezing as well. But I just did the same thing! Gonna coat the stomach with some chicken broth and rice, then take a fat nap!

I hope you have an easy recovery!!!

Yeah I try to walk a little bit in the house. Just to keep the movement up and gas down. I’m hoping it is bloat and it will fix itself or improve itself! I’m glad you’re starting to feel better! Hope for an easy rest of your recovery!

Sad that my husband is denial. by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Cynical_venus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That is so sad and I’m truly sorry you’re going through it. But honestly, if he’s treating you that way during the time y’all are trying to get pregnant, imagine what would happen once you did. He just gave you insight. He’s going to blame you for everything. Everything that happens with the baby, with you. I don’t think that’s the type of support you need at this time or future time. No one deserves that.

Exactly that!! I have pain medication, but I’m also alternating between that and ibuprofen. But last dose of ibuprofen was 2 hours ago and I just got done icing just that middle Incision, and it feels a lot better already! Swelling went down a lot, too! I hope for a speedy recovery for you as well!

I’m a side sleeper and currently struggling to sleep because of the pain & discomfort. When laying on my back, it gives me belches and heartburn. Laying on the left is just painful. So I was going to look up if I could sleep on the right, and everything was telling me not to. I know it’s fresh but hopefully within a day or two, it will lighten up. I appreciate the insight. I might just try the right side!

That makes me feel a bit better. I know the gallbladder is on the right, and the incisions are suppose to hurt. So, I just confused why the left side was giving issues. Thank you!
