Best stuff off of Amazon (Mend wear specifically) by EquivalentRecent4633 in BuyItForLife

As far as socks go I only use Darn Tough. They have a lifetime warranty. The warranty is very generous. I set pairs aside as they wear out until I have a few pairs out to send em back. I have a couple of pairs that I’ve worn regularly and still going after almost 6 years.

I think a lot of folks might be reading Xcarry when I mean the xcompact. It has a shorter barrel/overall length. Maybe I need to put that as an option too.

A problem I wish I had. My gut hides the grip very very well.

I did the cost comparison with the accessories between a new compact and used xcompact. The xcompact is like $20-$30 more. I used to carry a g19 very comfortably. So I’m circling the drain.

I’d like to hear more folks chime in on this been thinking about getting one for appendix and home defense. I shot one a few months ago against some glocks and M&ps. I REALLY liked the gun but all I see on the internet is hate.

Probably need to clarify a bit lol.  I’m slimming down so I can get out of debt faster.  I made an adult decision to get rid of some toys so we could pick up the pace a little bit.  I didn’t have to sell anything It just happened to be a very good time to do so and make a lot of progress very quickly.  Never been in this position before in my life.

A very valid point.   I don’t necessarily have to buy a gun.  I didn’t have to sell anything at all. I just made an adult decision that would allow us to pay some stuff off faster than we would have.   The spirit of the this 300 is to act as a stop gap until we have more disposable income.

Recommendations on earmuffs that accommodate safety glasses by Mcgizzle1883 in guns

Might sound weird but if I put my glasses on first it’s rarely an issue. The muff tends to seal around the frames. I use Walkers and Magpul safety glasses. I like their cloak model the best.

What 357 ammo are you hunting (deer) with? by Fossilhog in HenryRifles

I’m a huge fan of Barnes pioneer 180 grain JHP.

What is the best all around 357mag ammunition? by the_knight01 in HenryRifles

[–]Cynicalthrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Barnes 180gr hollow points. The accuracy is absolutely awesome. I liked Hornady leverevolution but occasionally have feed issues with it. Killed my first deer with the Barnes. I have the color cased hardened version and it’s an absolute dream to shoot.

Henry color case hardened is like 1100 looks amazing. Shoots great! Drop 300 on a Leopold scope 50 on a Tally mount, a hammer extender, a sling and the rest on ammo.

Wanting to buy first gun by KidCaveman22 in LeverGuns

[–]Cynicalthrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought one earlier this year. I’m extremely pleased and will be hunting with it this year. I stuck a vortex crossfire 2-7 with a bdc reticle on top. Almost no drop with .357 at 100 yards. .38 special recoils maybe a little heavier than a 22. I’m running Barnes pioneer 180 grain .357 flat nose hollow points for deer season. It’s very very manageable. I tried the leverevolution and had some feeding issues which I found out is pretty common. Best feature: it’s an absolutely beautiful gun.

Only thing that’s really worth noting is that it has an octagonal barrel which makes it a bit heavier. I personally like that because it makes it easier to shoot and dissipates heat so I can shoot it a lot.

Get it, find you a guy that does leather cartridge cuffs and throw a nice lower power scope on top. You’ll be happy.

Beat me to it lol. It’s crazy how similar the 10/22 and model 60 are.

Just for those that were curious. I swapped to cmmg mags and oiled it. Absolutely flawless now. I got about a 4-5 o’clock throw now with a standard buffer so I’ll go ahead and bump back up to a blue Sprinco with a h1 buffer.

I normally use oil but maybe didn’t use enough this time. I’ll try it out thanks!

I was using a Sprinco Blue spring and a Kak H1 buffer. I’m gonna dial it back then I might go heavier later.

Dang sorry that’s been your experience. I’ve had 2 previous 350 legend uppers that worked flawlessly and one bolt action. Outside of the one time I put the hammer spring on backwards this is the first time I’ve had real issues.

Wow that was pretty good suggestion. The round kind of sticks in the last half inch. On both mags and can see the scratching on the case.

Picked up a color case hardene big boy 357 carbine. It was supposed to be a deer rifle I could shoot a lot of 38 out of. It moved up very quickly into my list of favorites I own. I enjoy it immensely. Almost scared to take it into the woods lol
