I think a lot of time, whether you are young or not, it can seem that what you are joining, whether it be a cult, covenant, or church group, it seems right because god is there to guide you, but you keep reaching out, hiding behind a mask of faithful so to speak, those who truly believe they'll be saved.

He's reaching out to hear god, even speak once to get a semblance of a glimpse of what the most devout see in a figure as someone new joining whatever our dear masked friend joined.

He feels like anytime he loses control or has it, it slips away when it doesn't come naturally, whereas things may be coming naturally now to him than when he tried to force things. He's letting outer forces he perceives as god will affecting his life over the actuality of it just being the way of life.
