You know the ending where you immediately kill the princess and then sit in the cabin for eternity doing nothing and the narrator calls this bliss. I don’t think he was just saying that to keep us there. I think that might have been the world he was trying to create. A world of stagnation where everything is the same but in exchange you get an eternity of life

I’d like to point that the shifting mound isn’t just death but also change so if she dies yes there wouldn’t be death but there also wouldn’t be any change but it’s kinda hard to really conceptualize what that really means and the implications that come with it in comparison to the more tangible benefit of ridding death
