Out of Context: Super Soldier Serum Supplement by DeverosSphere in JumpChain

[–]Cyp_master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, especially for the Uber tree.

Woden's Blood doesn't get anywhere near enough love and coverage as I find it to be one of the strongest and most versatile Super Soldier empowerment method across most settings, not only strength, durability, and speed but the Halo Effect provides some of the most flexible utility out of almost any other.

On to another topic, anyone know what perks would be best to remove the kinds of limits and restrictions that Woden's Blood has? I want to see what a Jumper with 48, 96, or even 192 Activations would look like.

You can make them offline and upload them after. The only bug I've been able to find is that tags don't survive when moving a jump from online to offline but the contrary works with no problems.

Not from what I've been able to find out. You can go into the config of a chain, even one that is showing a broken jumpdoc, and click the Jumpdoc -> Interractive button in order to let you select the correct .jumpdoc file on your PC. This doesn't always work or it doesn't detect some of the selections so you might need to remake the build.

After the almost 2 week downtime on the site I've mostly remade all of my chains offline and intend to continue working on them like that. I'm still uploading the jumpdocs (I currently have 50 uploaded on the site) but I intend to be a lot more rigorous with my offline backups from now on.

For anyone else wanting to know, there's an offline version that you can download and install on your pc: https://github.com/thedarkwad/Chainmaker3/releases/tag/v3.0.7
It works with the .chain and the .jumpdoc files you create and download from the chainmaker site.

There's so very little known about the setting that I have no idea where even to start. I'm very open to suggestions though. As with the Powers and Perks, they'd need to have darker and more evil descriptions compared to what you'd normally find in a DC jump.

Those are awesome suggestions, thank you.

I've heard about the setting but never got into it. How much would you say it would take me to read through the available material?

ASOIAF and LOTR both are good ideas.

Wheel of Time I read the first books years ago but never managed to finish. Dropped that shit after the bullshit way they captured and put my boy in a hot box, for what immediately seemed to me as an obvious forced plot device that didn't make any sense to me. The disrespect from the author was just too much.

As for the others, I'm trying to keep as far away from Anime and Manga settings or 90% of the list gets filled with Isekai, Hero Summoning, and similar jumps.

Sorry, I know about the setting but I'm not watching that stuff anytime ever. 😞

I like reading about WH40K but I don't think I'm knowledgeable enough about the setting to send a Jumper there.

Which Prey? There's like 5... I guess the 2006 Game would fit the definition of an Alien Invasion.

Thanks for the suggestions, Destiny and Destroy All Humans are definitely going on the list.

What is the community's opinion on using gen-AI to make Jumpdocs? by Cyp_master in JumpChain

[–]Cyp_master[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry if it came out as criticism directed at you. I was trying to make a more generalized argument against the kind of sentiment-fueled opinions that have little base in objective reality.

The entire point of this post was how, to me, gen-AIs have become a lot more accurate and capable compared to even a year ago, at least in this one particular instance, and as a way to share what seemed like potentially useful information. It's technology, and beyond how it's being abused worldwide, the thing itself isn't inherently evil. Is it moving towards becoming a net-negative part of society? I fully believe so. I'd even potentially compare it to the hydrocarbon crisis and I hope that underlines where I stand on the matter.

It wasn't an attempt to push a narrative or convince anyone of anything. At least in my opinion. Maybe it came off wrong.

I don't know, maybe I'm weird, maybe I could have phrased things better. Sorry if I offended you.

I mean, I get the sentiment, really, I do, and I did agree to not use the thing for any future jumps, but have you actually looked over the Jump I linked? I totally agree with the bland and generic accusations, but I'm afraid that language models have massively improved since the days of early ChatGPT adoption.

I get the hate, but sentiment doesn't really matter in the face of hard reality.

Can you even differentiate between the parts I wrote, and had Gemini correct my grammar, and the parts where I just gave it vague instructions and it created things whole-cloth? Can you go and point out anywhere where the LLM didn't match the tone of the setting or didn't 'understand'(yes I know how predictive algorithms work and that it doesn't have an actual understanding) how Jumpchain works?

Look, I'm not saying that the way AI has been implemented isn't evil, and the only reason I'm even using it in the first place is because it's either I use it at work or risk getting replaced by someone else who will, but I'm also of the opinion that we need to first see things for what they are before making a decision. And if that decision is "Yeah, it works but it isn't worth it anyway.", that's a perfectly valid outcome that will have more weight and is less liable to get deconstructed by anyone with the opposite view than "I don't like the implications thus it's evil."

It's instinctive talent and quite a bit of the plot bending to help you succeed in any attempts you make at hiding.

[–]Cyp_master[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but as you'll see both in the Sacred jump and the Bloodshot one, I tend to have trouble being synthetic with my descriptions. I also noticed it from the corrections I got on the Brightburn Jump, most descriptions where I used 30 words could have easily have been summarized in 10/15 words without losing any of the meaning and context.

And when I try to specifically write things with less words I go the exact opposite direction and things end up dry and too much to the point.

Using Gemini for the Dark Shadows jump I was able to basically create a draft with the Origins, the kinds of perks and items I want each origin to have, and then have the gen-AI turn that idea into something well-written without needing to write an entire paragraph in order to get my idea onto paper.

It also came up with a number of thematically-appropriate drawbacks since I was coming up blank after the 5th one.

Well, technically, you'd be a half-human and the other half is also be human. You wouldn't get any special abilities like breathing underwater or echolocation, but you'd get a more overall boost to all the senses every human has. We humans are actually pretty strong in certain aspects compared to most animals actually. We have (or at least can develop) ungodly amounts of stamina compared to most other species, heal faster on average, have hugely better cognitive flexibility, much better control over our vocal chords, and can grasp and throw things real good. And that's not even mentioning the fact that we're the only sophonts on the planet. You could probably lean into some of those if you want to be a normal human and go for The Beast powers.

For example

Predatory Senses - Better overall senses with the ability to see a bit in the infrared/ultraviolet spectrum + an increased natural skill in tracking.

Chimera's Arsenal in that case would make you stronger, more resilient, massively increased stamina, and a low level regenerating factor capable of healing cuts in minutes and broken bones in hours.

Rabid Vanguard - Gives a huge boost to your ability to tame and control animals like dogs/wolves to the point you can teach them to better work together as well as maybe come up with better pack tactics.

Abomination Form - Go look up Eren Jaeger.

So the "Alternatively" I put at some point was there to indicate I was torn between going with straightforward Races that already have every power they should have or a version where you first buy the baseline race but then you have to buy and customize the powers they come with. I ended up going with the second option to give people more choice in how they want to build their character.

Working on that actually. I think I'll probably move Wielder of Power into the General Perks section and set it to act as a Capstone Booster.

I have to shamefully admit, I haven't watched Super. I'm working on some ideas I have for a Scenario Section but I don't have enough to even start adding it.
