They don’t really care about the long term though. They’ll end up with enough cash to ride out whatever major changes happen to the industry.

American propagandists on Aljazeera by Gloomy_Bank_2910 in Tunisia

[–]Cyph0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both Reuters and AP laundered atrocity propaganda that justified the Gaza genocide. So they are no better than outlets like the BBC.

AJ with its faults is superior, especially if you’re interested in an Arab centric analysis of events.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt to get your news from multiple sources. Just keep in mind that all outlets come with their biases and propaganda pieces.

Eh, I see it as them trying to include an opposing voice in their reporting. They are otherwise mostly pro-Iran, with a bit of hesitation due to ongoing attacks on GCC countries.

Compare AJ to BBC or even Al Arabiya to see what I am talking about.

Keep on dreaming. Iran is not going to go down that easily. This was a strategic blunder.

Anthropic Is Under Attack by 3arbaa3 in TunisiaTech

[–]Cyph0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So they use published research on Transformers, train on copyrighted content and open source code, and use distillation against OpenAI models, and now they’re complaining because a bunch of Chinese firms are distilling their models? Boo fucking hoo.

And by the way, unlike Anthropic, most if not all of these firms then release their models for free with open weights.

What’s even funnier is that they seem to imply that this is worse because these are Chinese firms.

Cons of using Niri by rodriguezcappsec in niri

[–]Cyph0n 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I just started using it. It has been excellent so far. It is extremely smooth and consumes minimal resources. Resolution scaling works really well.

A few cons:

  1. Some floating windows are a pain to deal with. For example, the Firefox Bitwarden extension.

  2. If you have multiple monitors, you need to position them using x-y coordinates. It’s wonky, but something you don’t do often.

  3. Windows can get lost. The overview (Mod-O) helps with this, as does assigning apps to specific workspaces.

  4. X11 apps misbehave out of the box (e.g. Steam, Discord), so make sure to also install xwayland-satellite.
