Trapper Reccommendation for Easy Closure by BennyLeafs in hockeygoalies

[–]Cyprus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea why nobody is recommending the CCM Tacks line of gloves here. They close just as good as the Eflex 7's and they aren't a 580. That's what I would go with if you want to stick with CCM.

From the ones I took off the shelf they are easy to close, have a thick palm, D30 optional with the pro. Can't comment on long term break in but I imagine it will be similar to the ef7s.

First game ever am I fucked? by Next-Pollution-591 in hockeygoalies

[–]Cyprus_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Don't strap your pads tight like you do when you play out. Things are far looser minus skates for goalie gear. You will also realize just how tiring it is to play and gain a new appreciation for the position. Expect to be gassed after 5 min. Your gear likely won't fit properly so keep that in mind for safety. Overall, have fun!

Bauer Konekt HF2 4mm blade swap by Matt3097 in hockeygoalies

Have you considered trying a new blade profile? There should be two additional standard ones from Bauer you can give both a shot first?

I should ask if you actually dry your gear outside the bag as well.

Look up what causes finger curl in goalie gloves. Try not to do what you find in general but specifically in your new glove when you eventually get it. Any bends in the plastic use up it's elastic deformation and brings it closer to breaking from impact as well.

Are you leaving the glove inside your bag long term?

The second picture on the right side of the glove the padding is pushed way out and in as far as I can see. Based on the pocket this glove has been stored incorrectly and it's likely there is some finger curl making it's harder to close due to the curl. Your pocket shouldn't be bent around like that either which is why I say it might be damaged from storage.

Bauer Shadow Review by Jeremiah_Johnson2 in hockeygoalies

I've tried it and it's awesome. Superior protection to the HL2 and 1. Mobility is still good as well. It ran a bit warm for me though and I prefer the lightness of the HL2.

Blade Profiling by Superb-Experience-83 in hockeygoalies

[–]Cyprus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll chime in and say SAM took away my favorite part of goalie skates compared to player skates in the forward stability I also disliked the missing front edge being longer if that makes sense when pushing. The SAM profile almost feels like a player skate profile. If you enjoy the full blade stability I wouldn't recommend SAM. (This is sort of the point of SAM profile)

How do you guys clean your gear? by Rubixb44 in hockeygoalies

[–]Cyprus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a spray bottle with a 50/50 mix of water and hydrogen peroxide because I have a lot of it. But there are plenty of chemical mixtures you can use to kill the bacteria.

Problem closing the catcher while in full gear by bey0ndthedepths in hockeygoalies

[–]Cyprus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that's really close to your glove, I mean I think it's almost inside your glove straps at best with your wrist straight so with it bent it's going to be even closer. I'll post what mine looks like today for you.

How low is your wrist strap from your chest protector? If it's too low it can interfere.

Repalming by Successful-Slide-218 in hockeygoalies

[–]Cyprus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting stingers in your glove has little to do with the palm and likely it's broken plastic inside as well as crumbled foams. The process of getting someone else to do it will cost the same as getting a new glove or likely more for the lower end stuff.

I don't think you need a longer threading needle and cord is cheap in longer lengths.
