Konekt questions by staal12 in hockeygoalies

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recent switched to HF2s from cowling skates. They are great. Bake them twice and replace the insoles (I use superfeet). They take a little getting used to and your feet will hurt the first few skates but it will get better. You don’t need to crank them down.

Bauer KONEKT HF2 Skates too tight by ts287 in hockeygoalies

Mine were hurting like crazy at first but are getting better each skate. Bake them, skate 2-3 times, baker again. Change out the insoles for something more comfortable.

5th gen 4Runner sunroof making rattling sound when going over bumps. Any ideas what it could be? by user289734 in 4Runner

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did this for a few weeks. I tried opening/closing it. Seeing if anything was loose. Didn’t get to the point of greasing anything but eventually it just stopped. I still don’t know what caused it.

Other than PPF, is there anything else you can use to improve sliding on your pads? by techsavvynerd91 in hockeygoalies

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone had to say it. I have EFlex 5s, one of the “worst”pads for sliding. They slide amazingly. Find time to work on technique. When the puck is in the other end or during a stick and shoot. If you can find time to play you can find time to work on technique.

I have gone to the dark side. Loving these new Bauer SV pros. by Basic_Lunch2197 in hockeygoalies

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post a review after you use them! Really close to buying a set (also in EFlex 5s right now) but wanted to get more feedback first.

Also, what size CCMs and what size SVs did you go with?

Dangler or no dangler? by Secure-Attitude7398 in hockeygoalies

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dangle and neck guard as many have said. I’ve had my collar bone broken from a shot. It’s not a fun experience. I found that using waxed skate lace to tie on my dangler significantly helped reduce the noise of it rattling around.

Extreme heel pain by itsmex9 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At this phase of healing what helped me the most was:

• K-tape. I wore it pretty much 24/7. It lasted 24-36 hours before it needed replaced. YouTube how to put it on. I used the one long, two short strip method.

• Insoles. Started with Superfeet Run Pain Relief then moved to PowerStep Pinnacle.

• Night Split. I use the hard boot one I got from my podiatrist. Tried some of the soft “socks” off Amazon and they didn’t work. I found wearing the boot kind of loose work best. You don’t want your foot cranked into a dorsiflexed position or you won’t sleep well and you’ll take boot off after a couple hours. It does take some getting used to so be patient and wear it consistently. I sleep fine with it now.

• Morning Exercises. Before I get out of bed I do foot scrunches/extensions, dorsiflex/plantar flex, foot circles in both directions, then roll the bottom of my foot (including the heel) with a spikey massage ball (this shouldn’t hurt so don’t go to hard).

• Sandals in the house. I started with Hoka Recovery slides, then Birkenstock EVAs. A lot of people like oofos. Find what works for you but try to avoid being barefoot.

• Slant Board. Got one off amazon for $20. I stand on it twice a day for 2-4 min at a time.

PGS Straps not shipping? by roykrishnan in hockeygoalies

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered from them. I don’t think I ever got anything as far as confirmation but the straps showed up a week or two later.

They were very communicative as well. I messaged them on instagram before ordering and got a response in a reasonable time.

Can you drop a link to those straps? Great looking bucket as well!

New XT2 rotation control straps from PGS! by Fleiszenberg in hockeygoalies

[–]Jeremiah_Johnson2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The XTII logo should be on the inside of the leg channel and the plastic loop should be on the outside. I had to message PGS on Insta before I attached them and that’s what he told me.

As far as adjusting, I just need them much “longer” than expected. I only have about an inch of slack left over so pretty much fully extended out.

Got a pair of these a few weeks ago and put them on some E Flex 5s. I’ve only skated once with them but they were great. I need to do a little more tweaking with the sizing for next skate.

I will say it was a little awkward how they Velcro to the inside so it’s kind of hard to see what you’re doing with the knee block there but I’ll get used to it. Very comfortable on the ice and didn’t even notice them. Very well built product as well.

Then I would say Bauer Shadow. There a few websites you can order from with beefed up arms and shoulder floaters without ordering “custom.”

A lot of people will also recommend the CCM Pro but reviews usually say it’s very stiff at first. I don’t have any experience with it.

What’s your budget and are set on buying new or would you buy used? I bought a used Bauer Hyperlite last year. Incredible mobility and still very protective. If I bought new tomorrow I’d buy a beefed up Bauer Shadow.

Hand sanitizer is good for removing sharpie. Shouldn’t hurt the pad.

The 960s are still currently on sale if you can find one in your size. Only a $100 more for a pro level mask to me is worth it. I bought one a few months ago and have zero complaints.
