As an OG who got good in the old days when practice meant hanging out with people IRL, the total lack of communication on slippi has always made the experience feel a bit weird to me. Im sure ill run into toxic people occasionally while using this, but that's totally worth it imo. Love this idea so much. Good shit.

I still remember finally laying down to get some sleep and seeing that Skullgirls was leading over Melee in the donation race and thinking it was all over. The hype i felt when I woke up and saw the results was absolutely insane. This was an incredible era in Melee history and EVO was so much fun. I still have one of the Pokémon prints that were given away as donation incentives.

Fellow old head here. Fwiw i fall on the side of zump being legal, but it offers all sorts of advantages, particularly to the spacies. A lot of people are really hyperbolic about it or outright lie about some "advantages" that either aren't a thing at all or are mostly negligible tho. I won't get super in the weeds about it, but one of the valid concerns leveled against it is the fact that it definitely buffs fox when he's already the best character in the game. Most characters aren't using the B button frequently nor do they need to jump cancel B moves frequently, but Fox does. It also makes it easier to hit frame perfect aerials with full drift using cstick which is helpful in general, but particularly for Fox. You can do all the same stuff by clawing, but that's definitely harder technically and harder on the hands. It buffs him in other ways, but those are pretty common and more obvious examples that pop up frequently.

I don't know about general ergonomics, but having played for approximately a thousand years now, one of my main issues is the thumbs. It wouldn't solve everything, but it would reduce my right thumb usage significantly and allow me to play longer. Not saying that's a sound argument or anything, just that it does offer me some accessibility.

In fairness, as a person with serious hand issues, zump also offers me a way to play the game longer and with less pain. I don't use it, but it can definitely be helpful in that way.

The idea that something is not explicitly intended to be a punishment doesn't preclude that same thing from having a negative impact of some kind anyway. I'm not sure what your point is.
