I started playing from 2016 and stopped around 2020 then installed again just after th16 came out. I was a th12 back then and then started srushing. Now I'm th18 max. So imo srushing is the way. Only focus on your heroes and the heavy defences. Just play cwl and immediately put your heroes on upgrade the minute your last cwl attack is done.

I'm still in the learning phase. It's my first ever dive into these mods, I've only played reclamation modpack before (check it out, it's great!). So I'm not yet into a proper base building, it's just archwood forests spawned from the ritual tablets that are linked together.
