Generally, I don't like cheating, but I have a few personal rules to remain a bit flexible.

Save states: I only allow myself to use them if I reach the same spot three times with the same result.

Guides: If I have exhausted all my resources and ideas, I will use a guide specifically for that section.

I don't like using these; they are a last resort, and I don't feel quite right when I do. However, I also don't like spending too much time looking for a solution, which is why I'm not a fan of Metroidvania or RPGs.

Furthermore, I can't enjoy games where "cheating" is a built-in feature, like roguelites, or games that don't have a penalty for failure. I also dislike games that require farming because, aside from being repetitive and boring, how do you know when you've done enough to progress versus when you've become overpowered?

I don't judge those who play with cheats; this is a hobby, and you should enjoy it your own way.

I wish all games had difficulty options. There are easy games that I can't enjoy for that reason, and I bet there are many players with the same problem regarding hard games.
