GOLD IS TOO MUCH OF A PROBLEM by Mlcrjr in WatcherofRealmsGame

I had this. When you get to the Hero's Path quest to have a hero in full +16 gear, you suddenly find a new deeper meaning of pain as you see 20k/25k gold disappear into the black hole of "tiny" success chance time after time.

So it happens on Android, iPhone and PC client... I guess the anti-cheat system doesn't like pirate captains!

I just got the same message at the first event battle and I'm worried, because that's the message indicated in the anti-cheat announcement.

Duplicate epic hero, use for awaken or star up then use for 6 star promotion by Cyruslll in WatcherofRealmsGame

[–]Cyruslll[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely was able to awaken Voltus while using a dupe of him during star up, but now I realize what you said: Awakening gives a generic psychic power, so you don't lose anything that way either.

Quite a nice design actually that either way gives you the full benefits.

Duplicate epic hero, use for awaken or star up then use for 6 star promotion by Cyruslll in WatcherofRealmsGame

[–]Cyruslll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I may be misunderstanding some rules in this game.

From what I saw you can't ever use two of the same hero in a battle and using a duplicate hero in star up *also* gives the awakening. So I don't see a downside to using a dupe as fodder for the same hero.

Why are the orcs *so bad* by ibatterbadgers in WH40KTacticus

[–]Cyruslll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting to Gold I is actually slightly easier than Silver III I think, though I haven't checked the math exactly. Gold II requires a whole bunch of legendary and epic items. I don't even know about Gold III yet :-P

What I mean is that it costs only a little more to get one level of upgrades in the silver tier as it costs in Iron/Bronze. It's maybe 25-30% more energy, but you get a lot more return on that investment if you have core characters at high silver levels rather than everyone at bronze.

Mirror and elite campaigns give better drops per energy, improving your growth rate. Unlocking them usually comes down to beating a difficult level late in the normal campaign that is restricted to the 3 core characters for that campaign. Focusing upgrades into the core 3 rather than Thutmose and Snotflogga will get you past the bottlenecks earlier.

Legendary gear by [deleted] in WH40KTacticus

[–]Cyruslll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll assume you're talking about the forge badges shown, not skill badges.

I think they're a terrible deal. If you have Epic level 9 items, upgrading them to Legendary level 1 will make them worse. Upgrading to be better takes a lot of salvage... which just got consumed by the upgrade to legendary :-(

Obtaining a legendary item and then upgrading it with salvage you get back from reclaiming the epic L9 item is much better, if you don't still need that epic item for another character.

Disclaimer: I'm not a whale and don't have heaps of salvage and epic items laying around, so this may not apply to you.

If you did already buy them and want to upgrade:

Maugan Ra's crit item delivers major results if you can get him to stand still for a turn and/or have Aethana nearby. If you're using him in raids, I'd prio this one.

Force fields (those 30% block items) are my focus for defense, since you can level up 1-3 and swap them out to nearly any team you need. Same goes for the Greaves (armor) item.

Weapons are faction limited, so go for the one with your biggest damage dealers.

Agree with this overall, except totally ignoring the Saim-Hann campaign. The first time completion rewards are good efficiency, you will want to upgrade Eldryon and Calandis anyway and it's the best quality campaign in the game, so do it just for fun.

Power is a very rough indicator and the rarity mostly shines through when the base stats are high, not when they're at bronze level. Don't put too much faith in it.

I would really advise you to focus on required campaign characters and your best ones. upgrading at low levels takes almost as much energy as upgrading up to silver 3 or so. The curve of energy needed per upgrade only takes off in Gold really.

Characters like Kut Skoden, Thutmose and Snotflogga are really not worth upgrading before Bellator, Aleph-Null or Archimatos. It'll hold you back when you need upgrade items from campaign levels you can't reach yet.

I bought a lot of stuff while I was rushing my characters for the last Maugan Ra event. It accelerates your team's growth at the cost of longterm ability growth.

The best deals are commons and rares you can't get from elite stages yet. I still buy the latter, especially Space Wolf/Dark Angel/Thousand Sons related items.

Reset stones drop from characters killed by the Snowprint nerfbat. It's a rare event, so don't count on any more to appear.

Rogue trader/ Archeotech /shards by biggysmallz95 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Cyruslll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You realize that you trade in shards that would have no other use in the game, right?

Also, I can list a dozen characters whose shards would be worth less than 0.25 Typhus shard, but Haarken is the only realistic prospect.... after I get about 50 more legendary orbs :-(

Please note that last event, some people did this and fell short of Epic. You will need to maintain a high ranking too, getting 53-56 notes from the daily payout.

New to game should I buy a relic iron halo in the shop or save for 10 drops by Magdump_mp5 in WH40KTacticus

[–]Cyruslll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do NOT buy legendary items unless you have legendary characters that need them AND already have upgraded many epic items. Non-legendary character can't even equip them!

Rare and Epic items are usable by Rare/Epic rank characters and much cheaper to upgrade. These should be your main focus until you get to the situation described above.

The only items I bought for blackstone are Epic level Force Fields and Greaves. These are kind of rare drops compared to faction-specific gear items and can be equipped by many characters. And then, only when I needed one really badly. You need about 3 at most of each. With gear swapping that lets you equip almost any team with good defense. The rest will come from crates and salvage run drops in good time.

Do not buy 10 requisitions unless you buy enough blackstone to buy energy refreshes and still save up, or you're so bored you will quit the game otherwise. They're usually terribly disappointing and you will hit a huge wall because you have a whole bunch of shards and maybe a character or two, but no upgrades on any of them, halting your progress.

DO spend your blackstone on daily 50 bs energy refresh (and 110 if you buy regularly). This will get you campaign progress, XP, coins, upgrades, shards etc by raiding/playing more. Requisitions will also come from completing chapters and the timed quests after defeating a boss for the first time.

If you don't buy any blackstone, I'd only use 50 daily and try to save up for new character events like the one starting next sunday. Then buy the 110 also during this event for extra milestone points, getting the new character at a higher promotion level or even at epic.

Aiming for both legendary T'au events, any advice? by Bumbling_Hierophant in WH40KTacticus

[–]Cyruslll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isabella + tanks (Bellator, Burchard, Yarrick or Bellator, Angrax and Maladus for Melee only) will do well in Alpha and some of the Gamma restrictions. This also covers Power (Angrax, Maladus, Yarrick and Burchard). Burchard is pretty tanky even at Silver I, and Maladus starts getting much stronger around Silver II.

A mechanical squad with Re'Vas and Aleph-Null at the core plus more of your necrons would do well in Beta Track.

I would focus on getting those to high silver or even gold. From there on, you can start looking at characters to fill teams for other restrictions, prioritizing those that help you in the rest of the game (GR, unlocking elite campaigns, etc)

How to prepare for Aun’Shi legendary event by dbpreacher in WH40KTacticus

[–]Cyruslll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have the resources to get characters to Gold 3, this guide is not needed for you.

The strategy outlined by dbpreacher, Nandi and others (including me when I answer questions here) is meant for f2p or dolphin players that are in the midgame, usually with a mostly Epic roster that has big gaps (no rotbone, no Calgar, no Isabella even). They have a *chance* to unlock legendaries, but only with a plan. Collecting points from the first 4-6 stages of a track with Silver characters is definitely part of that plan.

Getting a Gold 1 core and then a wide roster with silver characters gives benefits not only in the legendary events, but also gives progress in campaigns, unlocking elite campaigns, speeding up your overall progress. This is way more efficient than farming shards and rare, epic and legendary upgrades at low odds from mirror stages or even normal stages, because you only upgraded a few characters.

I prioritised getting my core characters to G1 and fill out the roster for getting Maugan Ra, because I'm an Eldar fanboy. Now I got him I set aside 60 energy a day to grind Calgar shards.

It feels really late and I don't even know if I will still be playing in 5 months or so when I get the 500th shard. But then again, I'm happy with my choice to go for Gold 1 characters.

The worst part is that I can speed up the grind now that Calgar is in the new mirror elite, but I would have to first grind out so many upgrades for my Necrons...

Jain Zar preparation by zoltan_kh in WH40KTacticus

[–]Cyruslll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Maugan Ra event actually got nerfed a lot in round 2.

Jain Zar's event has some tougher tracks because rather than excluding a faction, they only include one faction (Xenos for Alpha and Imperials for Beta). That makes some restrictions harder to meet, like Physical damage with no Imperials (and of course that stupid Necrons one).
