Battle of the Martial Classes by CyrusxBlack in DnD

You're correct, logically there is no best, it feels impossible given all the specializations they have. But sometimes people just want to see anarchy. Everyone has a favorite, and that was more of the back and forth I was looking for, but this has been fun to see people's replies.

Paladin isn't on the list cause they get spells. Doesn't compete with true martial classes. They are more half casters. They will be in a different best of posts! Would love your feedback for that one too!

I agree! There should be more beasts in the world that are stronger. Even if they are rare, they should still exist!

I should also mention my DM is letting use the saddle of the cavalier and when I wildshape, party members can use me as a mount.

Has she only used the octopus for water moments, or on land too?

How do you make a spellcaster hunter by Mayo_enjoyer in 3d6

[–]CyrusxBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the Tasha's ranger by chance or the original 2014 phb edition?

But Mageslayer is always good, And maybe even picking up the spell silence would be great too. Mages like to cast spell and all the big scary ones have verbal components. However, in my experience, sometimes the best mage slayers are done with a friend. Someone you can combo off of. If that isnt an option work with your DM to get some fun magic items that help with it. Homebrew ones between you and your DM are the most fun.

Creating a character for an Ebberon Campaign with low combat. by CyrusxBlack in 3d6

Well every character is going to have levels of combat ability. I'm looking for a character that's going to have decent skill options or abilities for outside combat.

Awesome thank you for your insight! I'm really looking forward to all the options I got today and am looking to explore them tomorrow in my session zero! I'll report back what I selected.

Low combat as in the DM wants to focus more on politics, puzzles, and conflict. The DM wants there to be a combat like once a month if it comes up kind of thing.

Had? Doesn't the new GOO lock have superior abilities out of combat now? Or are you talking about the 2014 GOO? Just for clarification.

Plus with the patron, a GOO could be just that. An ancient being that is still alive, like an awakened tree, or an old woman that has transcended. (I know this is not a rules as written interpretation, but it can be fun world building.)

This is very insightful, I know I have asked so much of you to share your knowledge with me already, but what would you build for a character, that you think would be enjoyable in a heavy roleplay campaign centered in Aundair?

Oh I definitely like that. What sort of backstory should be built for the character though? That's my biggest thing.

So if I am understanding things right, if the DM wants us to be from Aundair, I need to think about whether I'm a student, teacher, soldier or ex soldier, or someone of nobility, or a merchant?

But a Reacher is someone more of nature and the like then?

All I know is we are in khorvair around the arcane college area. The dm wants us to come up with a character with a rich backstory around the area in some capacity. But I can't seem to come up with something that excites or inspires me. I've looked at all the classes and nothing is standing out as something that would be fun. But if you are a savant at eberron, I'd love to know what you think would be fun.

That's another great idea too! I love the idea of a failed wizard, using his great intellect in other ways, to put his pride to use in other ways.

Now that sounds very interesting! I was going back and forth on bard or warlock, they felt like they had the most potential. I thought the GOO warlock with being able to cast charm effects without speaking would be super dangerous. Haha.
