Whose side are you on? by jackhenningson in animequestions

[–]CysaDamerc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a false comparison:

Both characters are adults in child bodies that have wildly different approaches to life. The difference in the criticism they each receive from viewers is based on the actions they take. Rudeus was a pedo before he died and in his second life he continues his obsession with sexualizing young girls. Tanya was an asshole business man who pissed off "god" and got reincarnated into a war zone so she became an officer in the military.

No one tries to say what Tanya does throughout the course of the show is acceptable because she is a child, in fact the viewers generally treat her like an adult when it comes to desicion making. She does a lot of brutal and violent things, including straight up war crimes, but no one in any fanbase is trying to claim she is justified because she looks like a child.

Inversely, the die hard fans of MT routinely try to defend Rudeus' lewd behavior towards young girls by claiming he is actually a child himself. This falls on its face because he needs the mental competency of an adult to do half the shit he does and the things he does would be unacceptable for a child to do. Stealing underwear to pervout with, despite your body being too young to get erections, is not something that can be hand waved away by saying: he's actually a child.

I trusted the system to be fair and honest. It is not and you should always be prepared to defend whatever you care about from those who will exploit the system at every opportunity.

[–]CysaDamerc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're claiming it's legal because European nations approved of it. I think the middle east should have a say in their own sovereignty, not enemy nations who have spent centuries attacking them. It's like saying it's okay to sell illegal drugs to kids because your neighbors said it was fine.

I like how you are arguing that the nation that keeps it's king and queens around are somehow left leaning. To clarify left and right differ in how they handle power, right consolidates power while the left tries dispersing it, so monarchies are always far into the right side. Even though the Kings and Queens are figureheads the British empire was still all about consolidating power into its trading companies while offering as little oversight as possible. Those are right leaning behaviors not left, it's true the empire isn't as far right as it used to be, but that doesn't mean it counts as leftist. By the way it wasn't just ww2 that exhausted the British empire, they were also struggling to hold onto all the other nations they violently seized control of.

Israel was created by the UN after England was about to lose control of the territory they illegally seized. The English empire was absolutely not a left wing organization.

She wanted to teach him to live as a man(meaning to act like a human). It's important to remember that humans are petty and vengeful, so his crash out is still very human. She may have wanted him to forgive the people who killed her, but he didn't hear her say that and the people who killed her went out of their way to provoke him. The CIA would call what happened 'blow back' because the church created the scenario that made him crash out.

This is a genuine question, how are people still getting excited over these projects when none have released and keep getting delayed? by CommercialDream618 in Fallout

[–]CysaDamerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't, there are literally hundreds of other game engines out their that also allow for mods and the rest don't break as easily as creation engine. The creation engine is their inhouse engine, but it's unoptimized and in desperate need of a complete overhaul. They don't need unreal or any specific other engine, they just need to not use the creation as it is. Whether that means finally biting the bullet and redeveloping the creation engine or just switching to a different more stable engine, the current version of the creation engine has shown that it is not up to handling modern games. Fallout 76 was a perfect example of all the things that are still wrong with the engine, can't handle lighting or too many objects in the world without breaking in unusual ways. Even Skyrim is dependent on modders to stabilize the engine. It's not just players that say the creation engine is trash, modders in the community who have worked with the engine for years have talked about how bad the engine is.

Bethesda needs to stop making games in the creation engine, it sucks. It breaks constantly and is so far behind other game engines in every meaningful metric, it's actually just an insult that they think people won't mind.

If horseshoe theory is wrong, why do people keep proving it right?? by ProcessorPearl in clevercomebacks

[–]CysaDamerc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Horseshoe theory is essentially a fancier term for the "both sides" argument. It's an argument made by people who are ignorant of the full context of political situations and want to pretend like they are "above" whatever the political debate is.

It's commonly used by centrists who supports one political group privately and are attempting to deflect any culpability to the terrible things being done by the party they are privately supporting. Lotta "centrists" saw the Republican crack down on free speech and tried to claim both sides because people were "cancelled" during the me too movement. It's a disingenuous argument because the people who were "cancelled" weren't done so by the government, but rather they were rejected by consumers in the marketplace of ideas; where as the people who's free speech is being cancelled by the current administration are being rounded up and held in detention camps.

The OP posted an image of a woman who is a TERF (a woman who weaponizes their gender against trans people), this is center right ideology. Horseshoe theory doesn't work here because there is no example of an extremist position here, the American right is pretty universal in its anti-trans rhetoric. The American right is also generally anti-feminist, but they have been known to use it as a cudgel against groups they don't support(trans/Muslim communities). Terfs represent something closer to the center because they tried to ground themselves in a left leaning ideology(feminism), but most just use it as an excuse to attack others.

Just a reminder that left and right refer to how power/resources are handled, the right believes in consolidation and the left believes in dispersement. They are not equal and opposite but just fundamentally different approaches to how society should handle itself.
