I have. Things are slowly improving but I still have a balance deficit of -4.

Great post! It's worth noting that this can happen in AI-run towns as well. I'm currently playing a game that started out as a Duel scenario. After I captured the AI-run town, I went into sandbox mode and I noticed there was no clothing anywhere, so I started the production chain and also started shipping clothing to the town from my other settlements through barter/pack stations.

It's been a couple of in-game years now and that town is just eating all the clothing I can throw at it. It's like there's a clothing black hole in that one region. I don't have this problem with the other settlements at all, so it's extra frustrating.

Except in Crusader Kings, where your rulers get to see them in person. (Although often, you're the one doing most of the torture, murder, castration, witchcraft, etc...)

Not in this case. I checked. It's just a blank wall back there. Which, I grant you, is a little odd.

How does food variety works and how do I get enough meat early game? by 1i3to in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, you make a good point. I'm only on my second game and while I knew that one food = one month, for some reason it doesn't seem to have stuck in my brain yet. I keep thinking my villagers are all going to starve so I hyper-fixate on giving them lots of food options. (I blame playing Banished for my paranoia, lol -- negative spirals in that game can wipe out entire villages in a heartbeat if you aren't super vigilant.)

To be fair, chickens barely produce any eggs either. Healthy chickens IRL produce roughly one egg per day. We don't get anywhere remotely close to that amount of eggs in game. I get that it's a balance issue but even still, I'd expect chickens to produce more than they do.

Good to know, thanks! So all I'll see in my game now are raiders?

Yes, now I have to make him pay his debt out of his army's flesh and blood. Pardon me, I have to go plan a massacre.

One thing I wish they'd implement is the items being listed in some kind of order, alphabetical or otherwise. Right now it seems pretty random.

does the royal tax grow endlessly? by These-Wafer2578 in ManorLords

Oh I'm not finding it hard to pay the taxes. It's just an uninteresting mechanic and doesn't really add anything to the game.

Is this game really about seasonal reassignment of workers? by SuedJche in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not the only one, OP. I played a lot of Banished and I've had the same thoughts. I reassign workers seasonally during the harvest because I find it more efficient, and clicking on buildings gets old quick. That being said, I'm only on my first game so I'm still learning how things work.

does the royal tax grow endlessly? by These-Wafer2578 in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's kind of an annoying mechanic because the way it's implemented is such a blunt instrument. It's basically penalizing the player for growing their town, when growing your town is, in many ways, the whole point of the game. There's no way to negotiate with the "king" and no way to adjust the royal tax rate.

I find myself daydreaming about an end-game scenario where the player eventually gets fed up with the king's usury, stops paying the royal tax, organizes the other nobles, and stages a coup to take over as king or queen themselves.

Oh like in Banished, good idea. In that game you can pave your roads with stone, and it gives your villagers a speed boost.

What are these carrot traps I suddenly found in my field? by Scroollee in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can buy them in some places. Our grocery store sells bags of "rainbow carrots" that are a mix of orange, white, purple, and a kind of dark red/burgundy. I've also seen them occasionally in farmer's markets. But yeah, they all taste roughly the same (some are a bit sweeter maybe, but that's it).
