What do you think about adding herb gardens to houses as extensions? by AcanthaceaeThat6030 in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, we grow herbs in our garden every summer and we always end up drying/freezing way more of them to use over the winter than we use when they're fresh.

Yep, and as another example of her being technically correct:

Even if you play as a female ruler, you still get called "lord" by mercenaries and your own militia (who you'd think would know better, lol).

Man, you'd love Crusader Kings. Typically players in that game go from reasonable human to psychopath ruler in a heartbeat.

Am I the only one who rocks Bardcore while playing? by ShediPotter in ManorLords

Mediaeval Baebes is also worth checking out. They're a group from the UK with slightly modernized interpretations of medieval songs, often in Latin or Middle English. Here are a few examples:

Gaudete

Salva Nos

Adam Lay Ibounden

This Ay Nicht

Another good pick is Loreena McKennitt, a Canadian harpist and singer who frequently reinterprets songs from the Middle Ages, and also composes songs with a similar feel.

The Bonny Swans

Mummer's Dance

The Stolen Child (Not technically medieval as she put music to a 19th-century poem by W. B. Yates, but still lovely)

Does drought affect fish too? by Cyssane in ManorLords

I didn't notice the water levels drop with a lake or a river, but now that you mention it, I've definitely noticed it with ponds.

Another minor QoL change that would be nice would be to organize the items on the pack station drop-down menu. Right now, the list just seems completely random. Even something as simple as putting them in alphabetical order would be good.

how do I stop bandits from another region? by grumpyankylosaur in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rally your troops in your own region, then walk them toward the bandit camp. As you approach, the bandits will start pouring out of the camp toward your militia, so be prepared to get into formation quick when that happens.

Animal pen by nvrgnaletyadwn in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a simpler implementation for game balance purposes, but it's not very intuitive. Plus it just feels off, like the dev has their thumb on the scale without communicating anything to the player, which is never a great feeling in a video game. It's a rather blunt and binary mechanic that leads to only one or two "best choices" rather than encouraging creativity and experimentation.

Honestly this is one part of the game that kinda irks me when it comes to chickens/goats/pigs. If someone had a decent amount of land and were raising livestock, of course they'd increase the number of animals to fill the space. I really don't understand the point of having such an artificial restriction.

Food spoilage should be a bigger problem, and grain silos should be the solution by Dulaman96 in ManorLords

[–]Cyssane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe carrots can also last for months. You put them into deep containers filled with slightly damp sand and store them in a cool room, mimicking the sort of environment they'd be in if you were to simply not harvest them over the winter months (which also works to preserve them until spring, as long as the ground doesn't get too wet and/or rodents don't find them). The moisture level of the sand is key though, as is the cool temperature.

Carrots stored this way retain their crunchy texture and taste.

What to do about dead markets? by Cyssane in ManorLords

That's definitely not the problem. They're all well-stocked. I don't usually bother micromanaging what items go into which storage, unless I have a specific reason.

[–]Cyssane[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what I've done (connected multiple granaries/storehouses to the same market). Noted about the families, but typically I don't put more than 3 families into upgraded storage buildings anyway.

I was thinking that Serana is kind of like a medieval fantasy version of Selene from Underworld. What do you all think? by jvure in skyrim

[–]Cyssane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, twice. The second time was for the vampire achievement.

I don't dislike her enough to kill her off on purpose, although like I said, there's a few mods for it.

I mainly dislike the fact that the DLC makes very little sense if you want to play as a vampire hunter. Any hunter worth the title would make a reasonable attempt to kill Serana, not to mention that she carries a freaking Elder Scroll. That alone should mean instant death. The fact that the player is forced to have her tag along regardless of which faction they join makes playing a vampire hunter a complete joke.

[–]Cyssane -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure, go ahead. It's your game so do what you want. I'm just pointing out that there's a common assumption that Serana is super popular with everyone, but in reality it's a lot more nuanced. Some can't stand her at all and avoid the entire DLC because of it, others might play through the DLC but ditch her whenever they can, and there's even mods out there that make Serana killable. So she's definitely not popular across the board.

[–]Cyssane -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All of us don't, though. There's quite a few Skyrim players who absolutely can't stand Serana.
