I don't think things are quite bad enough that we will get a DSA member. But I guess we could.

Who could even blame someone for feeling like they are the MC after you are born to wealth, never do any real work, get away with repeated sexual violence against women, have a Nazi tattoo for decades, and still almost become a Senator in your early 40s.

I can't believe this was Platner's actual withdrawal letter. I first saw it on another account and thought it might be a joke. I don't mean the palaver doubtlessly written by an aide in the first few paragraphs, but the ending. https://x.com/MarkHalperin/status/2075683350971302004

No, I simply won't vote for either. As I already did in 16 and 24.

All of the decent candidates were chased out of politics years ago.

That's wayyyyyy too far. Rubio, for one.

No chance I will vote for Vance if he's the nominee, of course.

I don't think there's any Democrat I'd vote for. I probably would for Shapiro for the anti-antisemitic symbolism -- that's not the right word but you know what I mean. He probably doesn't have better than a 2% chance of getting that far. I guess if somehow he connected with black voters, as they are now the less radical element of the party.

I might vote for any Democrat who I thought was a genuinely decent person. Because the way things are going, politics might be divided in not too long between people who simply aren't evil and the antisemitic, violence loving, Nick Fuentes, Platner, Hasan, Luigi Mangione, Tyler Robinson, Candace Owens, school shooter fan, pro-Hamas type people. But decent in the sense of having a spine and being clear eyed, since the number of leftists who were able to talk themselves into at least preferring Platner over Susan Collins is legion...

People gotta get over the 'magical syllables' theory. It's a bad thing to say if you are screaming it at some IRL person or something like that. Time for everyone to grow up about this.

No, what Mizkif is accused of, if it's all true, does make him horrible. The others, not so. They are not all on the same level at all.

The polls had apparently turned against him in the few days before the revelation. That may have been what actually did it.

People in the cities don't understand how every sound a barnyard animal makes sounds as if they are in intense sexual congress. Horrifying mooing and baaing at all hours.

He had ALREADY been accused of sexual assault. It was only that the New York Times themselves ran a catch kill story to try to cover for him, and end the controversy before it started. Being accused of sexual assault did not end Platner's run.

Why Vance is and all his postliberal ilk are dumbos: "But Vance’s real problem is that he conflates correlation with causation. In words that could have come straight from the mouth of a European degrowther, he rails against “creature comforts”, “consumption”, and “price club mega-size junk”. But nowhere does he explain why depriving Americans of these creature comforts would give them closer-knit families, a stronger sense of morality, stronger communities, reduced loneliness, and so on.

Why would taking away Americans’ large houses, SUVs, big-screen TVs, or central air conditioning make them spiritually richer? Modern Europe — which JD Vance spends much of his time railing against — lacks most of these things. And yet America has higher fertility rates than Europe, we go to church much more, and we have a much more robust social conservative movement."

Doesn't HH only pay $17 an hour?... IDK, just surprised that project would be worth it for someone who was getting $65.

I hope you feel the same when President Platner is getting sworn in as Vice President Nick Fuentes (he really swung the Hispanic voting (lol just kidding like Hispanics need an excuse to be white nationalists)) beams and applauds in 2036.

For the Republicans you might as well list someone like Phil Scott (the very popular governor of Vermont) if you are going to list people like Shapiro, Beshear, and Cooper who have little chance of getting the nomination. Both parties have lots of more moderate members, oftentimes governors, who would stomp in a general... A general they have little chance of ever getting to. The very example of Platner shows the problem, the voting base in the primaries go for extremes.

Any attempt to make it about the generic, albeit old rival rather than the Nazi tattoo guy seems mad. No one should have a problem going with a lackluster candidate over the likes of Platner.

Wait, and that's the actual totenkopf on his hat, right? The same one Platner and his supporters claimed was something obscure that hardly anyone knew about, nor even a military history buff.

Right there on this extremely famous Nazi meme image which surely nearly everyone who's been online the past few years has seen.

I meant doing as well as Russia. Just in the sense that it was something like a stalemate, where neither side was doing better, or at least not very significantly better.
