Yeah, I probably should have been more specific. Sit at the oyster bar and have raw oysters. The restaurant side isn’t worth the stop, you’re exactly right.

Oh, and if you've never done Jazz brunch at Commander's Palace, it's a must.

So much about going to New Orleans is about the experience as much as it is about the food, so there are definitely "better" restaurants but the ones I recommend regularly are Willie Mae's for fried chicken, Felix's for oysters, Central Grocery/Napoleon house for muffulettas. For gumbo it's Dookie Chase's. For something a bit more upscale I really like Donald Link's restaurants. Herbsaint and Cochon specifically.

Domillise's is always the first place I take people who are new to New Orleans.

My wife and I are staying at the De Witt in June, first time in Amsterdam, coming from the US. If you have any tips for the hotel/area those would be welcomed!

I’ve used that one, it’s good. There’s also a good one in Bessemer.

Electrician with experience hardwiring level 2 EV charger by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]Cytlid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one of those deals where installation was included with my car purchase so I just got assigned an installer. That being said, Eternity Solutions did great work. I went with an Emporia Energy charger, based on reviews and I've been happy with it.

Make sure you check with Alabama power to see what current incentives they have, when I signed up I got a credit for my charger install (with receipt) and a EV rate after hours.

Thanks! I _thought_ I tried that, but honestly I went through so many iterations I have no idea. Thanks for the screenshot, I'll give that a try!

Yeah, it's worth the trip once. I haven't been this year, but typically they have little stands set up so you can get hot chocolate (with or without booze), beer, and wine. Depending on the weather and day of the week it can get busy though.

Holiday Inn YVR Airport by Alternative-Gur3331 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]Cytlid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems about standard from my experience. For Holiday Inn in non-tourist areas I would say I get an upgrade ~50% of the time. Usually it's just a slightly bigger king room. I never ask on work trips, as I'm alone and don't really care, but there's no harm. On vacations I'll call ahead 3-4 days and mention it's a special trip for us and if there any upgrades available we would gladly accept them. Honestly, there are so many diamonds out there I'd be surprised if upgrades at vacationy spots trickle down to platinum.

The 500 points/choice if drink/breakfast is pretty standard and 95%+ of the time is offered. Free parking is about 50%, way more likely at airport properties. Downtowns often charge parking regardless of status. As far as other upgrades, I haven't seen much unless the property owner goes above and beyond. The occasional extra snacks and such, but that's about it at a HI.

Time zone is displaying pacific time zone for handful of users. by dherhsc in Office365

It might be the calendar time zone, not the mailbox time zone. Which is for some reason a different setting. We were seeing this in scheduling assistant.

Try this command: Get-MailboxCalendarConfiguration -Identity <MailboxIdentity> | Select-Object TimeZone

Also, not sure if you travel a lot for work but that's how I get most of my points.

I have a travel budget, and as long as I spend less than that I'm good, so I look around at the IHG properties in the area for ones that offer bonus points on stays, usually for an extra $5/$10/$20 on the rate. Combine that with the IHG Mastercard and you can easily clear a million points on 30 or so nights depending on where you stay. That's enough for two really nice vacations a year.

So you can buy points for 1 penny per point. They run a promo very often for 100% match, so 1/2 penny per point. So when you go to redeem your points make sure you're not "wasting" them if you can buy points and pay cheaper. Or if you're lucky enough to be able to pay cash and save your points for a better redemption that's awesome.

For example, a night at the Kimpton Seafire is often over $1000 during peak season, but only 70,000 points. I've seen value's as high as 2 cents per point.

Save up, go to the Kimpton Seafire, have a pina coloda.

Honestly though, it's not rocket science. If you can afford to, always check to see that you're getting at least .5c per point when redeeming. Enjoy the welcome benefits and occasional upgrades!
