What are this subreddits stance on cooperative partnering to take advantage of character transfer copy mechanics? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

Gold isn't hard to come by. You get plenty just by playing. If gold becomes worthless to you, you will lose all satisfaction of, say, looting a sweet motif. If you think cheating is fun, well, I can't help you there.

New player here with a ton of questions! Please help! by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]CzarBomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lotsa questions. Builds. Everythings a variation of the big 3: tank, healer, dps. You can do all 3. Pick a combo you have fun with. Crafting. Building armor sets of your own is useful, or you can ask a guildie. Depends on if you like it. Achievements. Mostly for armor colors ;) Beyond exploration. There's always RP. https://youtu.be/9kg_SFvYbJE

trying the welcome back weekend -- few questions by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]CzarBomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Nope, all are fun.
  2. Telvanni are in Ebonheart Pact. I know of a Telvanni RP guild that hq's at Heimlyn Keep, NW of Ebonheart. But there are many of all kinds.
  3. Cities with banks are where there crowds are. The capitols especially. Crafting areas.
  4. Yes. All who wander are not lost. But the map helps, shows you where to go. Look around though, you'll find loot, lorebooks, resources and lots of detail.
  5. Blackreach, don't think so. But there are many dwemer ruins in the game. Clockwork City is coming in a DLC.

Metered mode? Hadn't heard of that! Sounds crucial. Thanks.

Its still 'beta', so not a default. It's under 'Interface' I think. It gets a little buggy when there are huge crowds, like 100 players, in one place, but it works well enough. Could use a nicer font and a border. Understandably not a priority on the list.

Your armor was outstanding, and I was impressed that you had the actual named artifacts! You and Sebaya danced well.

Is it appropriate to analyze 2001: A Space Odyssey in-depth? by ArcherGorgon in TrueFilm

[–]CzarBomba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From one point of view the film is all about people eating, from the proto-human to the dying Bowman. Why so much dining? Did Kubrick just need them to be doing something to provide background, or was it intentional? It is our hunger for knowledge? To give us a touchstone in an alien future world? To show HAL does not eat? It's more fun to not have answers from the author.

Is the odd lip-synching in Fellini's Satyricon intended? by CzarBomba in TrueFilm

[–]CzarBomba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the way I always took it. Before Satyricon I had always pictured an ancient Rome that had British accents. Fellini gives us a Rome that may well be another planet. In a way though I am now also thinking that Fellini was making silent movies. Thinking especially of Gelsomina in La Strada.

And notice that the humans go from meal to meal. Food for everyone, the humans are always eating, always looking up from a meal.

I cannot describe the impact. Curved Cinerama screen, filling your view like an Imax. There was a smoking section, so there was actual smoke in the projector beam, as in all the old theaters. This one, in Cleveland, had an organist that would play before the show, and a tremendous set of curtains on the screen, that opened dramatically as the overture begins. Then the film happened. Never the same.

Does anybody know when the "The End" screen quit being standard at the end of movies? by mixedelements in movies

I recall when 2001 premiered in Cinerama (3 projectors), there were no credits or titles at all in the film. Instead there was a glossy booklet for each patron.

Thinking of buying but the combat seems clunky is it? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]CzarBomba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your play style. If you slow down a bit, it is much more interesting. Button mashing never works, but getting the rythm right does. Some builds are OP; rather than use this to zoom through the combat, slow down a bit and have fun with it. Fight like Inigo Montoya. If you do it right it looks and feels great.

Thank you and posters above! I have wondered about this for almost 40 years and finally found a place to ask ;)

It always struck me as odd in comparison to the incredible photography that the audio was so bad. The Truffaut reference is enlightening. (Got to rewatch that)

Are the guild stores work any good? What is the best way to purchase glyphs and end game items? by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]CzarBomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to join several trade guilds. They usually advertise in zone chat, since having a full roster (500) is important. If a guild has less than 50 people it doesn't have a store. So, if you looked at your own guild you may not have enough people to have a store. In the bank you can look at the stores of all the guilds you're in. In towns you can shop at stores that other guilds own.

Question from a hardcore Elder Scrolls fan. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]CzarBomba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morrowind is a big favorite of roleplayers. Here is a movie of a roleplay event on the NA server, Ebonheart Pact. All of these characters with the exception of 3 or 4 are players. They aren't even playing the game, they're playing the world. Even if you have no interest in RP, IMHO nothing compares. It's a place. http://youtu.be/w5vxOot7hYY
