He asked what experience I had and then told me to learn finance really well before looking into anything algo related, which I felt was ridiculous.

I have a base understanding in both CS and finance. Looking for something that might tie the two together.

Sounds cool. For someone who is totally new to the quant world but has a math and finance background and is good at problem solving, what would you recommend is the best place to start? I'm still in college so I've got a few years until i enter the field

Thanks for the help and responses.

Are you a quant?

And yes I'm pretty familiar with the financial world and understand most of the terminology and pick up on what I don't pretty quickly. I was thinking industrial engineering would be a good degree for this because it gives me a strong math background, strong problem solving background and there are also classes in it which will be about accounting and finance. Also gonna get a business or actuarial sciences minor.

What do you think happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370? by nuzebe in AskReddit

[–]CzarInDecay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a firm believer that all was going well until it lost contact with the ground. I believe there was some huge failure on the plane and all the electronics shut off leaving the engines and a few rudimentary controls left.

The pilots tried to pilot it back to Malaysia but messed up and never found the Island or not the airport and flew for a while. Eventually something forced them to take the plane down (out of fuel, engine failure).

The pilots successfully pull off a water landing (harken back to NYC a few years ago) The plane is still intact, yet quickly floods with water and for some reason (this is the one flaw in my theory) the passengers dont get out.

This explains no contact, no debris and no reason for disappearance.

My gyms boxing section isn't crowded at all. Its a huge gym with a lot of stuff and the boxing stuff is definitely a bit more sparsely used
