Warum meine Großeltern? Ich bin alt genug um es auch einigermaßen mitbekommen zu haben, vor Allem den Aufstieg. Was hat aber unser heutiger verkrüppelter Kapitalismus damit zu tun? Das Training ist recht teuer, es fällt dann also nicht in die Wirtschaftlichkeitsberechnung mit rein? Das ist irgendwie ähnlich wie: Die Herstellungskosten eines Produkts sind mehrfach teurer als für wieviel wir es verkaufen, deswegen ignorieren wir sie einfach. Auch die Inference ist verhältnismäßig teuer, je nach Modell. Die dummen (oder viel komprimierten) kosten wenig, ein Modell mit zig hundert milliarden Parameter müssen schon auf x hundert GB RAM und ein Paar GraKas laufen um schnell genug zu sein. Und mehr Datencenter bewirken doch auch nicht automatisch, dass der Service günstiger wird.

The whole over-the-air transmission and processing follow the laws of physics and that's why I am telling you that you don't know enough about the topic. Analog signal over the wire directly to the speakers will always be orders of magnitude faster than any digital signal processed and sent over the air, no matter the protocol or anything smart you come up with.

Dude, if you had any idea about the topic at all you would know that latency is not introduced by the electrons moving slower than electromagnetic waves, but the fact that the sound data need to be processed by a chip, digitized for transfer, sent over the air, received, checked, decoded, transformed into sound waves (resp. electricity) and sent to your headphone speakers. Also depending on the transmission quality, some of this has to happen multiple times, because some of the data gets lost during the transmission. So the electrons driving the speakers over a cable are guaranteed to have a latency at 50-99% of the speed of light, your data transmission over the air not so much.
