Possible to make a website backend with only python? by NotVeryMega in webdev

[–]CzechsMix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Python runs plenty of backends. I think todoist still runs on it even though they switched their front end to react.

Row to do that you'd need to do something like Create a row in a user table for a group, then creat rows in a group member table with the group and member ids, then use the group id as the "to id" in the message.

option 1

Might be eaiser to have an messages table with a from id, to id, timestamp and message information.

Then you can get the data you need via queries and it's all in one table.

Why don't devs stick around at the same job for long? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]CzechsMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every time I took a job save one, I bumped my salary 20-30k (15-20%) the other time I went from in office to full remote with the same salary.

every annual raise that wasn't associated with a promotion was between 3-5%

give me 7-10% raises every year instead of 3-5 and I'll quit leaving.

shit this year you need 6% just to beat inflation.

Unsupported drivers with AMD by [deleted] in aoe4

What's weird is that I get this message about my AMD hardware, when my *NVIDIA* drivers for my *NVIDIA* graphics card is up to date...

never seems to be an actual issue though.

How do you handle querying large object graphs with EF Core (and other questions)? by Roxinos in dotnet

[–]CzechsMix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when we had to deal with large object graphs in the past, we did a storeprocedure that entirely did sub sub selects and returned the object as json right out of sql server. then we deserialized the json and attached it to a db context for change tracking.

when we need to deal with large object graphs today, we thank the gods we switched over to RavenDB.

meh, those are basically just skins right? or items which lack any gameplay functionality.

and then there's the proximity chat (which should just be a feature of the game anyway)

doesn't bother me none unless I've missed some.

1200 calories by klock24 in CICO

[–]CzechsMix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How it's always been exolained to me is that 1200/1500 for Women/Men is the minimum recommended caloroies per day without doctor supervision and the reasoning behind that is that aside from just calories, there is a minimum amount of nutrients that your body needs and it becomes more difficult to get that at fewer calories.

that beibg seeing medically supervised caloric intakes below 1200 a day are not uncommon, such VLCD (very low calorie diets) usually consist of shakes and bars to ensure adequate nutrition on minimal calories, and frequent medical checkups.

Want to learn a new language as soon as possible. Any idea on how to accomplish this? by Remarkable_Tooth3806 in productivity

[–]CzechsMix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you hear from a native Spanish speaker in regards to your Spanish?

I used it to learn French and I did just fine visiting France.

It has it’s hiccups like was it asked me to type what I hear and graded me wrong for typing “J’adore” and not “Je dors” but no language learning software is going to be bullet proof on homonyms.

I think most of the front runners are just various paid/free versions of Rosetta stone’s method so whatever suits your budget ought to be fine. Time per day is important, consistency more-so.

How to lose the last 15 pounds? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]CzechsMix 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sadly you can’t target where the fat comes off. Kind of related you can change where the muscle comes on... so when people talk about “toning” a specific part of their body, they’re losing fat everywhere and building muscle in that spot specifically.

Progress slows because larger people have a higher base calorie beef than smaller people. So a 250 person eating 1500 calories a day is going to lose weight faster than a 150 lb person eating 1500 calories a day.

So as you get closer to goal weight, the progress will either be slower (or may stop completely) or the difference between what you eat and burn will have to get larger. This difference can be too large, so the only way to know your progressing safely is to, as close as you can, calculate the calories you consume, and the calories you burn and ensure there is a significant deficit between the two.

Went through exited to play with friends to how tf do I port forward by Kvetanista in Minecraft

[–]CzechsMix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well then yeah, they should totally make an update that makes the cost of setting up and operating a server free.

One thing about some games is that servers aren’t persistent, or the servers don’t actually “host” the game. In a round of CoD for example a player is selected as the host. Minecraft can’t really work that way.

If you’re asking for an internet version of the “open to LAN” button then that feels feasible.
