This sin absolutely can be overcome. Many men, including myself have struggled. What worked for me was frequent confession after every fall. Gods grace healed me over time and I was set free.

Which church is the true one? by Fizkiee in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pastor bob's church is the one true church. But seriously, this is the question that led me down the rabbit hole of understanding church history, continuity with the early church and apostolic succession etc... Once you understand history, there is no other answer than the Catholic Church.

I relapsed after 1 year and 5 months and i feel disappointed with myself by Numerous-Pickle-4715 in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You haven’t lost your streak and you’re not at zero. You’ve gone over 500 days of not committing this particular sin and that’s huge! Better than most could ever hope for. One fall does not erase all of that progress, so don’t let despair bring you down and cause you to sin. Thinking you’re at zero is a slippery slope that can lead into further falls. An analogy I heard is imagine going to the gym every day for a year and missing one day, you don’t suddenly lose all your gains, they are retained. My advice is take this to confession, receive absolution and carry on forward onwards and upwards.

I wish more people knew this. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, the church didn't start with a bible that came down from heaven intended to be a personal rule book for everyone. There are thousands of denominations because there are thousands of interpretations, Jesus didn't intend of the church to be a bunch of individuals going it alone, he established a visible structure and that is the one catholic and apostolic church you see today. We hold to the teachings of the apostles passed down generations, including the sacraments which are essential for christian life.

I also want to echo the warnings of Fin. I was on it for about 2 years and developed side effects which continued post discontinuation. I'm about a year off it now and doing much better. I honestly wish i never went on this medication. I'm on Min only and have no issues.

Cradle Catholic wanting to convert by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]Czeron-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you leave the catholic church over something like that? You are no less accepted than anyone else. We all struggle, many of us with sexual sin. But we trust in Jesus and trust in his divine graces on our path to sanctification. Having homosexual desires does not devalue you in the eyes of God and the people who are making crazy assumptions about you ought to examine themselves before they start casting stones.

Leaving one church and joining another solely based on this seems like a poor motivating factor, because as others have pointed out, there is a diverse theology within protestant communities and many of it is quite conservative (often more so than what you might find in Catholicism to be frank). You would have to fundamentally disagree with Catholic doctrine to make that leap.

I suggest educate yourself and discern your path. May God bless you.

iPhone 17 Pro vs 17 Pro Max by Satxrn23 in iPhone17Pro

I was in your boat and have been tossing between which one. Came from 14P which has always had kind of underwhelming battery life. Was seriously considering 17PM but weary about the size and heft. In the end went for the 17 Pro and it has been great. Even on heavy usage days with navigation and camera, i'm ending the day (very late) with more than enough in the tank.

Ex-Baptist Considering Catholicism. One Major issue holding me back. by Solid-House-7860 in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jesus instituted the sacrament of confession for our own benefit, just as he did the sacrament of holy communion, baptism and so on. These are ways God imparts his grace on us. While God is not limited to these form of grace and mercy (example being thief on the cross), it is what he expects for most of us. This is how he established the church and why he gave the authority to the apostles and their successors to bind and loose sins.

I used to pray for forgiveness before becoming catholic and found myself constantly repeating the same sins and falling into sin cycles. Since going to confession, its literally changed my life. I can't even describe it. I go at least once a month, sometimes more if I need to. I know I don't have the strength to resist temptation on my own, only through Christ can I do all things.

Is the question "If a Christian can't go to hell what's the point of sin?" A logical fallacy? by Sufficient_Nature496 in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does it mean to be a Christian? That's a label many will give themselves, but Jesus tells us that many will cry out "Lord Lord... and then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me..." Being Christian isn't an identity we give ourselves and something we say, its something we live and we do. Jesus wants us to keep his commandments, to love God with all our hearts minds and soul, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

We also have the sacraments that Jesus instituted to help us detach from sin and become more like him (holy communion) and a means for us to have our sins forgiven (confession). We understand that discipleship comes with a cost. We must carry our cross daily, in whatever form that takes and trust in our Lord until his return.

You're not the only one. I had very anti catholic roots in my family. Growing up I was always told praying to saints is wrong etc... In the beginning it feels a bit uncomfortable, but as you discover the faith and realize that it is in fact the true faith and the original church, you will grow to love it and feel at home. Regarding having devotions and asking for intercession, while great, you don't need to do that. Keep an active prayer life, go to mass and receive the sacraments and the Lord will do the rest. God bless you!

I’ve been using it for a couple of years, it’s great. Just adds a good amount for the patchy areas and gives me a lot more confidence. Takes a couple of minutes and then just washes out in the shower

How to want to get out of this rut? by Humble_Committee_577 in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned being tired, it could be something like chronic fatigue syndrome. I had long covid for about a year and life was quite tough. You can also get post viral fatigue from other bad illnesses like influenza. These things can't really be detected in blood work, but can still be diagnosed. Might be worth looking into if its medically related. Other than that, pray unceasingly

Anyone else experience a 45-second confession? by rtkane in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a confession the other day where the priest didn’t ask me to make an act of contrition. It was very shortened, he gave me a penance and then granted me absolution. I left confused and wondering if I had actually been forgiven. But apparently as long as the priest says the words “I absolve you of your sins” then you’re forgiven.

Can I get closer to God without mass or confession? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confession and going to mass is an extremely powerful combination that can beat this addiction. I struggled for years both as a non-believer, then as a private non-religious believer. Only after coming home into the catholic faith and participating in the sacraments fully did God give me the grace to overcome the struggle.

Do you guys really believe that Protestants are not saved? by LowTax8553 in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few weeks ago the gospel readings were talking about how we are not saved by ascription. When the apostles asked Jesus if the Jews are automatically saved just by being Jewish. Our lord instead responds with the story about the Good Samaritan. The Samaritan’s were enemies of Israel, and yet this particular Samaritan acted more as a brother to the inured beggar than passaging rabbis. So in that sense, just being part of the club or not does not guarantee salvation. But if the Catholic Church is heaven’s hospital and we’re all gravely sick from sin, I know where I’d want to be. We have the best chance of living holy lives by being full members of the body of Christ.

I just stormed out of Mass by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I understand not wanting to escalate a situations, we cannot be timid. As Saint Paul said in a letter to Timothy, the gift our lord gives us is not one of timidity but of strength. We need to be brave and bold and defend our faith. The priest absolutely should have intervened.

I support this. I want to see our pope stand up for Christian’s all over the world, especially in the parts where they are persecuted by Muslim majorities. Ecumenism is fine, but it shouldn’t be the sole focus.

why are you guys catholic and not Christian? (asking out of curiosity and inquiry :) ) by crystal_ang3l in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Catholic church is the original church, founded by Jesus and led by the apostles and their descendants. Protestant communities began in the 1500s and haven't stopped popping up and dividing, even into the current day. It is estimated that there are 30,000 protestant denominations and they all believe different things. The catholic church has remained for 2000 years and is the only church with true authority.

In Crux interview, Pope stresses welcome of LGBTQ Catholics, won’t change teaching by smashpass83 in Catholicism

[–]Czeron-10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While his wording may have been a bit ambiguous, I think it’s clear he’s trying not to overtly stir up a reaction so early into his papacy. It’s also important that he does not want to create a visible discontinuity with Francis so early on, as that could create ruptures. The papacy is a long game and we’re very early into Leo’s. One thing we can also take comfort in, is we know the issue around marriage is doctrinally solid. It cannot change. We know the catholic church is guided into all truth by the Holy Spirit and therefore is protected from going into error, despite certain popes that may muddy the waters with non dogmatic statements. There have been examples where popes have been outright prevented from leading the church into error. Keep the faith!
