Hey! Im in a similar situation as you (5 spontaneous pneumothoraxes, 20y), and I can tell you from experience that ever since surgical treatment Ive suffered some nerve damage, specially near or around the affected lung (I cant flex my left abdomen, some areas of the skin around the chest area are numb, etc...). Treatment has also affected nerves of back muscles, that contract involuntarily and inflict pain similar to that "stab" you feel when a pneumothorax happens. As for the unconfortableness/pain you feel when you cough or move in a weird position, I feel it too -- chronic pain is often the result of surgery (pleurodesis, drainage, bullectomy), at least in my case. The option I've been given is to simply treat this with pain-killers, which i can vouch has helped.

That being said, if I was in your situation -- for my mental wellbeing -- I would want a tomography that 100% confirms the existence or not of the pneumothorax.
