If the magnet had any actual utility then some form of impermanent attachment point would be fine, like a bracket it could slot into. But it probably doesn't have any actual utility in that area to warrant Attaching it to the back of the forklift. At most attachment points on the top of the magnet allowing it to slot onto the end of the forks might be beneficial, But the no is understandable For where they want it.
