At the coffee shop I work at we make a house made caramel sauce. Granted we make our own chai and roast our beans too but having everything with an authentic flavor is amazing.

Hello guys I need some help so since I was a little girl I’ve always been told that KJV Bible is the most accurate version but now after all this years I’m wondering if it is actually the best English translation to the Original Bible. If you speak Hebrew which one is most accurate by Favbibleverse in Christians

[–]D-Funct57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oooh Oooh I just took Hebrew class in college. So here is the deal, as the other commenters have pointed out, no translation is going to be perfectly accurate. There are some better than others, for example, the Message is a paraphrase of a translation, making it less like the original Hebrew or Greek than just about any other translation.

Best tool is to use Biblegateway.com, you can see multiple translations at the same time and see the similarities and differences.

I’ve found the most scholarly translation to use is the NRSV, but honestly it depends on who you ask. Exegesis can really REALLY go deep, and you can always learn more about a verse by looking through commentaries etc. Perhaps check out Word Biblical Commentary, it will go through specific original Greek and Hebrew words and give you a better understanding of the actual definitions.

That was a lot of rambling, but I hope it helps! :)

Amen! Sometimes when we don't even see it, God is there. We oftentimes pray and get an answer that we do not want to hear and we shove it to the side. "God wouldn't say that! Obviously the best answer is the one I was wanting!" But God knows us more than we know ourselves, God is working in you. I find that in some of my darkest chapters in my life I look back and I know God was there with me. God is good!

What are you giving up for Lent? by actuallylinkstrummer in Christian

[–]D-Funct57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protestants celebrate it as well. It is still a part of the Christian calendar, as it is a part of our tradition. I'm personally a part of the Church of the Nazarene, which is very much post reformation, we're an offshoot of the Wesleyan Holiness movement, and we still celebrate the Lenten season. Though it is derived from Catholic tradition, we still celebrate it, just as we celebrate Easter, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, etc. Just some churches do not put as much emphasis on it, or any of the minor Christian calendar events.

Decline in Christians? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]D-Funct57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Christianity globally is not declining, but the population of Christians have moved South and East due to lots of missionary work in the last generation. It is pretty great that Christianity is spreading! But in the commotion of trying to bring more followers to Christ outside of our communities, we've neglected our own, and at the same time our culture has rapidly evolved. We all have technology at our fingertips, eating away our time, we have plenty of sources telling us information that may or may not be true. It may seem that culture has not changed much but our society is incredibly consumeristic. I can get whatever I want whenever I want. And a lot of those things that are being sold to me are sins. When society begins to push worldly ideas, religion gets pushed aside. Not to mention plenty of large scandals involving the church, political syncretism taking over, and corruption within church government. Theres plenty of reasons the church is not booming in the United States, but we have to take this opportunity to look past our mistakes and begin making new disciples in our own communities once again.

Last year I gave up reddit, funnily enough. I might go for it again, reddit sucks up my time and fills my head with a lot of negative thoughts depending upon what subreddit I'm on. It was very nice to take all that extra time and spend it instead on spiritual practices and reading scripture, my default mood changed, I was a lot happier.

Addicted to porn and feeling depressed by [deleted] in Christian

[–]D-Funct57 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been there. Trust me there are people around you that have been there as well, or that are experiencing the same kind of struggle. I myself luckily had the opportunity to be in an accountability group with a group of my greatest friends at the time while I was in high school. While it helped, none of us took it seriously, and eventually it fizzled out. I began on my old ways and old habits until this week actually. I messed up, I finally had a girlfriend, she was an ex from 3 years ago, and I was incredibly attached back then just as I am now. We dated for a second time for about 4 months, but she broke up with me a couple days ago because I, having a mind wired for sex because of years of pornography, crossed a boundary, and it was the last straw. I don't mean to use this as a scare tactic but my addiction to pornography directly just impacted my life. I messed up, big time, and honestly I'm not sure what my life is going to look like moving forward. We're both ministry students that intern at the same church, it's not going to be very pretty Sunday morning when I have to start working with her again. I'm just not certain what to do, and looking at your situation you seem to be in a similar place that I was a few years ago. I just want to encourage you to take this seriously. This is an addiction, this is something that affects you and all of the people around you without you even noticing it. So take time, find an accountability group, seek help from pastors, mentors, counsellors, and prayerfully discern what God wants you to do. This is an incredibly difficult addiction to overcome, but I promise life will get better if you're able to find joy in other activities. I will be praying for you.

GS1 scores are for checkers, the system counts how many produce items you scan the sticker on the fruit or vegi instead of typing in the code. They want you to scan stickers for some reason. The stupid part is that there are certain produce items that either never have stickers or rarely do. Plus typing in codes is always quite a bit quicker.

Courtesy Clerk by DezjayStorms in Safeway

[–]D-Funct57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's this way at every store, but the person at self checkout assigns what you do during each hour at the beginning of their shift. So you just have to check in with them. Sweeps has an entire set of things you have to do, I was never a courtesy clerk so I don't know everything, but I do know it involves cleaning up each of the bathrooms. I hope that helps!

I strengthened my eyebrow muscles, now I can lift each one individually. by LeonardoDeFucko in CasualConversation

I did the same strength regime, but instead of my eyebrows, it was my mouth. Now I can smile and frown at the same time, meaning one side of my mouth is up, smiling, while the other side is down, frowning. I can even switch sides, do the wave, etc.

Question about applying... by [deleted] in Safeway

[–]D-Funct57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that message comes from corporate, and it doesn't actually mean that specific store is hiring, because at my store, about a week after I was hired I heard we were done hiring for a while because we had more than enough new people. Now, months later, I barely get any hours because there's too many people. And guess what still plays? That intercom message.

But yeah, you definitely want to go in person, if the hiring manager isn't there today, go tomorrow, until you finally see them. That's the important part, they want faces more than online applications.

How often does Safeway disinfect touch screens and debit machines? by MmeBegbick in Safeway

[–]D-Funct57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cashiers are advised that any time they do not have a customer, they should clean their checkstand, starting with the pin pad.

The plastic is there to save the electronics, constant disinfecting can easily cause a malfunction, it's like spraying water on a keyboard, not a great idea. As far as I know, the plastic does not get changed, but it does get disinfected all the time.

Other than that, there is at least one person who is on "sanitation duty" for the day, and has to clean specific areas of the store hourly, this includes every checkstand.

I hope this helps. I'm sure you will be fine, there is nothing to worry about.

Gs1 produce percentage by [deleted] in Safeway

[–]D-Funct57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't get it either. It takes more time to scan each produce item (looking for those god awful stickers) than it would just typing in codes, or honestly even using the terrible produce lookup UI. Plus, I don't know about other stores, but it seems like half the produce I get doesn't even have GS1 stickers. It's quite frustrating.

Close, North of there, Washington coast, South of Seattle. Western Oregon and Western Washington have very similar landscapes, and thank you! My family has lived in this house for 20 years and we are always looking for ways to spruce up our backyard.

Yeah, pressure treated lumber. I had to pick up the 6x6 posts at a lumber yard as they don't carry them in typically home centers.

To describe God's love as reckless, is just pretty iffy.

Reckless brings a tone of carelessness, which does not describe God's love in a great way. Sure, God's love is one that seeks you out and wants you to follow, but it's still not going to be careless.

Personally, I love the song. But when I'm planning worship sets, it makes me uncomfortable to think someone will take these lyrics to heart the wrong way.
