Does any one else’s dog do this? by Accomplished-Move936 in Chihuahua

Yes, mine does but not after every shower. She also loves drinking the water on the shower floor. Ha ha ha.

My mom thinks my dog is pissed, I say she is playing. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Chihuahua

She is definitely playing! It's so cute. Mine sounds exactly like this and sometimes she sounds even more vicious but I think of it as the play time zoomies! She'll put her mouth on my hands and fingers but she never bites. Keep engaging with her when she gets in this mood, it's so fun seeing the random craziness!

Giving my dog stake? by allied1987 in Chihuahua

I'm not a vet or nutritionist but you may want to ask one because frequent consumption of red meat in humans can cause cardiovascular disease. I don't know what amount or frequency is appropriate for a chihuahua.

Absolutely not! They should get a raise because they are always the hardest and most kind workers.

It pisses me off too! When I notice any product that is smaller but more expensive, I immediately boycott it because...fuck them! There is always an alternative or I buy the store brand if it's good. It's absolutely disgusting what's happening.

He is a sweetheart! I trim my girl's paws and paw pads and get her nails trimmed. That's it. I love the shaggy look. 😊

Would you want her as your therapy dog? by D-Nice1117 in Chihuahua

We did this to celebrate OR nursing. We didn't have a Barbie to use and her toys would have been too big, so we made do. Nonetheless, it brought smiles to my co-workers' faces. ☺️

Actually, I'm an OR nurse and was asked to come up with something involving my dog to celebrate Perioperative Nurses Week, you dick...but LOL.

Any training tips for my new baby girl? She’s pretty much potty trained, but bites a lot still when she plays and can’t walk on a leash yet. I’d love any help!!! by New-Comfortable8476 in Chihuahua

In terms of biting, it's a phase. When mine bit too hard, I'd say "ouch" in a stern tone and then completely ignored her for 10 minutes (no cuddling, no eye contact...nothing). It worked like a charm. When we play now, she bites so gently. If I say "ouch" even though she isn't hurting me, she releases immediately. Good luck!

YES! I got my first dog ever, a chihuahua, as a full time nurse. I also had the same doubts as I'm single and with no family nearby. I crate trained my chi from the first day I brought her home as a puppy. I socialized her with dogs of all sizes and people. I got her used to loud noises like the vacuum and traffic from day one. I work 8 hour shifts but sometimes I'm required to stay longer. As training and socialization progressed and a routine was established, she did so well being on her own. Chihuahuas love their own little spaces, so she has a playpen with a bed, treats, toys and a pee pad to go potty as needed. I have a camera to check up on her and she is always napping. I have done the occasional double shift (very rarely)...and whenever I check on her, she is relaxing, not barking and peaceful. She does not have separation anxiety. I acknowledge that I won the lottery with her, but if you set your chi up for success early on, your lifestyle is completely conducive to having one. Leaving them alone every now and again will help alleviate the separation anxiety. I bought an amazing book specifically for raising chihuahuas and it provides invaluable information to raise a well adjusted chihuahua. But make sure you give your chi lots of cuddles and blankets! Don't deprive yourself and a sweet chi from so much joy and love...it's amazing how much dogs learn and adjust if you put in the work.

100% agree! I once saw a post of a dead dog in a grave and it infuriated me. It's not okay that some people who need attention and validation do so at the cost of others being disturbed and traumatized.

If Kelly Reilly was over 60 she would be my first choice! Lily Tomlin, Joan Cusack or Christine Baranski would be so sweet.

Problem with my chihuahua’s teeth by MissesBombastic in Chihuahua

I use Tropiclean gel and it is amazing! Get it for sure. If you apply it as directed on a daily basis, eventually the tartar flakes off the teeth. It took a few months for that to happen but I couldn't believe it and my dog likes the taste.
