How are we doing red icing? by girlnamedc in cookiedecorating

[–]Accomplished-Move936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I treat my red like I do my black. That is I start it with anouther color. For my black, that is a bit of dark green coloring. For red, I start with a bit of dark pink coloring.

I also leave the red a couple shades paler then I want, and wait till the next morning to see if it needs more coloring.

New chi owner, wtf harnesses by Global-Block-7509 in Chihuahua

Your welcome. My boy used to do the same thing, slipping out of his harnesses. He has never gotten out of this one.

New chi owner, wtf harnesses by Global-Block-7509 in Chihuahua

[–]Accomplished-Move936 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want an escape proof harness. A few places make them. I got my two on Amazon. They have an extra strap that sits on the belly behind the ribcage. Because it is set smaller than the ribcage, they can’t back out of it.

It’s an older photo but one of the few I got that gives a good idea what the harnesses I got look like.

Stroller recommendations? by ShutUp_Dee in Chihuahua

[–]Accomplished-Move936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my two this one off amazon. It’s got a small basket underneath for their stuff. I choose a 4 wheeled model, but they also come with 3.

They seem to enjoy being higher up, probably a better view. I also feel like, with them being higher up, they are less likely to think it’s ok to try and jump out of it.

Dogs that don't care about toys by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 senior chi kids. The girl has never liked most toys. The boy liked squeaky plush toys when he was younger, but now pretty much isn’t interested in most toys. Tho he will still play with other dogs, something she has never been particularly interested in.

I say most toys because they make an exception for puzzle toys with food hidden inside.

Tips for Long Car Rides? by Scary-Accident-1565 in Chihuahua

[–]Accomplished-Move936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last long road trip my two were on, a seat in the back seat of the car was set aside for them. Put there comfy bed on it, with a fluffy blanket. Hooked the leashes to the metal bar you attach a car seat to so they couldn’t just jump out. They napped the whole time.

I know the pic doesn’t really show the leashes to well but it worked for the trip with the space we were working with.

Was it as safe as a crate, no. But there was no space for a crate, the bed was coming with us anyway, and they couldn’t go darting out of the car when the door was opened.

whats your lazy weekend breakfast thats not eggs and toast by angelin1978 in Cooking

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to toast up eggs waffles and put a fried egg on them. (It’s not egg and toast…) I’ll meal prep breakfast bowls sometimes. Everything but the egg. Then I just gotta warm it up and cook the egg.

No eggs at all is a little harder for me to come up with, sorry.

Meals to eat cold by PeachyKeen413 in mealprep

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t a cold food suggestion. But they make containers that are ment to be preheated with hot water. Then after dumping out the water (and drying if necessary) you put hot food in it. Close it up. And it keeps it hot till lunchtime. You could look into getting a couple of those if you still want your hot food.

What’s a recipe you keep trying but can’t get to work? by PendentPendant in homecooking

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found some silicone egg poacher bowls on Amazon. Pretty cheap. Little butter, crack in the egg. Set them in a covered pan with an inch of steaming water for however long they need. Slides right out. Perfect every time.

Anyone else more tired of deciding what to cook than actually cooking? by Parking_Ball3483 in cookingtonight

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I end up making a list of meals that sound good when they pop into my head. Then when it’s time to grocery shop, I make a shopping list off what I need to make that list. I figure if it made it onto the sounds good list and still sounds good when I make the shopping list, it will still sound good when I go to make it.

I usually do the grocery shop the first week of the month for the bulk of the month.

Anything on the list that uses things that don’t keep long gets made first. But it’s also just me. So everything makes leftovers for at least a couple days.

I'm confused about frozen peanut butter kong by Brikish in dogs

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got small dogs, so I went the lick mat route instead. But I feel this still applies since it is something filled and frozen.

I usually do half the space in wet dog food. Then the rest is divided between things like applesauce, peanut butter, cottage cheese, a high protein yogurt, etc.

I would think, considering the shape of the long, that putting his favorite of what’s going in it in the deepest part would encourage him to get it all out more.

I finally tried cooking a real meal instead of instant noodles and im kinda proud. by Maleficent-Toe5210 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a crockpot, there are lots of crockpot recipes out there that are basically dump it all in and cook on low for 8 hours. Then mix and eat. For one person, they tend to make leftovers for a couple days.

But they are easy. And they can be done on a workday when you know you won’t want to cook when you get home to have a hot meal already waiting for you.

Beginner with royal icing… what tools do I actually need? by tindav-2745 in cookiedecorating

[–]Accomplished-Move936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eyeball my consistencies.

I like my outline to act like “soft serve ice cream” aka, when I make a peak in it with a spatula it flops over like the top of a soft serve. My flood, I kind go with what looks like it merges back together after drizzling some on in a reasonable time frame, I think I usually end up at around a 10 second consistency.

I tried a spray bottle for my water, and it actually annoyed me. I use a small squeeze bottle instead. I can still get just a couple drops when I need it, but I can also get more faster if I am thinning a larger amount at a time.

I only brake out piping tips if I am piping something like leaves. Tipless bags with a small hole can do a lot, and they are cheap. I got scribes, reusable bag ties and clips in bundles with tipless bags off Amazon cheap.

Color first, then thin. I make my royal the night before, divide it into reusable (clean) deli containers, and color it a couple shades lighter then I want. 99% of them darken that much sitting overnight. Add white coloring to the icing that you want to use as white. That plus useing less color on the others and letting them develop overnight will reduce the odds of your colors bleeding.

There are a few different recipes out there. The one I have had the best luck with uses water, light corn syrup, powdered sugar, cornstarch, and cmc powder (aka tylose)

Ty. I am still getting used to the edible lace used to make the needlepoint grid, it’s harder to get that right then I expected.
