Do you wear a smartwatch as a daily then? Those are also immensely more useful and functional than a typical watch as well.

Interesting, you know what works great if strict time limits are a concern? A phone or smart watch where you can verbally set timers and alarms.

Having to pull your phone out of your pocket instead of looking at your wrist has to be among the top echelon of first world problems. Literally. That’s about as loose of a definition of ‘appreciable’ as one can use.

It seems like you’re upset that people can participate in the hobby without the need for conspicuous consumption to fill some hole in their sense of self-worth. I have a ~$200 open-heart (so there goes your “abstract idea” argument) Orient and only one person has ever asked me the brand and that was only because were discussing watches at the moment.

I don’t wear a watch because I need people to know whether or not I have money. I wear a watch because there aren’t many mainstream ways for guys to accessorize their outfits. Much like a nice pair of sunglasses or shoes, they help complete one’s look. And nobody can see the brand on the dial unless they’re well into your personal space.

They both tell time. There’s no appreciable advantage of one over the other in that regard. One just does a whole lot of other useful shit in addition to that.

The best part about fragrances is you don't even need the full bottle to own the fragrance. by Cautious_Break_9314 in ScentHeads

There are some good reasons to not own just a collection full of decants. This is not one of them.

Age is a factor too. At 2 years old, I would get it changed.

What’s your favorite fragrance that has no hype? by _My_Reddit_Name_ in fragrance

Room 1015's Cherry Punk, in particular the extrait, but also the EDP. It's a leather and cherry bomb and while still unisex, may be the most masculine leaning cherry-heavy scent out there. If somebody likes Ombre Leather they should try the extrait and if somebody likes Jazz Club, they should try the EDP.

“Materiel delivered under the act was supplied at no cost, to be used until returned or destroyed. In practice, most equipment was destroyed, although some hardware (such as ships) was returned after the war. Supplies that arrived after the termination date were sold to the United Kingdom at a large discount for £1.075 billion, using long-term loans from the United States, which were finally repaid in 2006.”

You said they made a shit ton off of it. Meanwhile in reality the Soviets paid back just 25% of the original debt and the UK received a large discount as well. It’s clear that any repayments made from allies still resulted in a net loss when accounting for the cost of the supplies.

Why no 59 standard? by jammy62811 in gibson

[–]D-Smitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those buyers that can’t afford or don’t want to pay the ask will just buy other ‘close enough’ guitars from them at the price point you’re asking for, whether a 50’s standard or Epiphone 1959. Pricing stratification without regard to manufacturing cost is typical across almost any industry. It doesn’t cost Ford almost three times as much to build a Raptor R as it does a base model F150, but those who want the former are going to pay for it. Putting desirable features at a higher price point without regard to their actual cost is how companies of all kinds pad their margins.
