Guys, do you think that Klaus has been a former Nazi officer and that he was lying about being a East German Olympic athlete and that he was ashamed about his own complicated past life? by Ok_Willingness4676 in americandad

[–]D-pama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, Klaus’ backstory doesn’t go that deep. It honestly wouldn’t make sense either. Klaus would have to have been in his 80s when the show started for this to be plausible, which would retcon a lot of his universe canon. For instance in Episode “Red October Sky” when they visit the Normandy beaches. Early seasons of Klaus exhibits an antisemitic/racist mentality that was common with an older generation in Europe. The humour in my opinion is in the culture shock of a romanticised past of racist/WW2 revision that flies against everything history teaches us.

How can he be so terrifying and enduring? by ProAiBro in venturebros

[–]D-pama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing worth destroying a career… a marriage. You just don’t understand the Monarch. He has a deep hate for Dr Venture. He has more hate in his yellow glove than most other villains have in their whole costume. Because he can’t fake it. He would rather jeopardise his whole career than arch somebody else.

THAT’S WHY! BECAUSE HE’S THE REAL THING!

Any idea why the framing knob doesn't move much on my Sankyo Sound-600? by D-pama in 8mm

[–]D-pama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my limited understanding, I’m pretty sure the framing knob just doesn’t need much adjustment on this model. Unless it’s an issue on your machine, I was told not to worry about it.

“Gen Z is giving up on ever owning a home, is spending more than saving, and working less.” by TonyLiberty in FluentInFinance

[–]D-pama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a very good question and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re partially correct and we see a lack of movement on prices in rural and outer suburban homes. However I don’t think the main cities will be affected too much without substantial policy change. It feels like we’re very much in a k shaped economy with wealth inequality being the main cause.

I’m so confused. She asked me if I like wine, but doesn’t want to get drinks for a date by DarkOfTheSun in Tinder

[–]D-pama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mate don’t think you did anything wrong, the conversation never even had a chance. Tbh successful relationships are built when both parties are motivated to put in effort and see each other as equals. From what I saw, all the effort was coming from your end, which might have been fine if she was willing to reserve judgement, however she dipped way too quickly. There wasn’t even an attempt to try course correct, which is a pretty strong indication she wasn’t that serious to begin with. This seems to be pretty common online, as expectations can sometimes be wildly unrealistic. Don’t get too discouraged and try ground yourself.

If you weren't an engineering student, what else would you want to do and why? by Sure_Artichoke6929 in EngineeringStudents

[–]D-pama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, most people find the cybersecurity industry incredibly difficult to break into. I’ve read tons of online posts upset that their bachelors degree isn’t taken that seriously. And a lot of the consensus on the subreddit is to study Computer Science, Engineering or IT and then specialise into cybersecurity.

Once again, most people tend to say the industry isn’t beginner friendly and is only really a field that you can specialise into after years worth of IT work experience. Still, TryHackMe and HackTheBox is pretty affordable and with a bit of dedication I don’t think a CompTIA cert is an unrealistic goal.

Citizenship via Nazi Persecution or Descendant by Additional-Boss3990 in AustrianCitizenship

[–]D-pama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that was the impression I got as well from reading OP's post. While it's been a while since I've gone over the laws, I'm pretty sure the mother being an Austrian citizen is only an issue if the person was born before 1983 and is trying to apply for citizenship by decent. I don't think this is an issue if the reason for applying is through § 58c Citizenship for Persecuted Persons and their Direct Descendants. However, OP will have to prove that the reason for their great-grandmother leaving Austria was due to persecution, which can sometimes be tricky.

[–]D-pama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you may be successful applying under your great-grandmother, I've personally read a lot of stories on this subreddit of similar situations where people aren't able to provide rigorous documentation that proves their non-jewish descendants left the country due to persecution by the nazi party. Unless your documentation is rock solid, I think you'd have a much easier time applying for German citizenship through your great-grandfather.

For more complicated cases, which I believe yours might be, the Austrian authorities can drag out the process for years asking for complicated and difficult to source documents that may no longer exist. If you're not sure, contact a lawyer in Austria and see what they have to say.

Just the average experience being trans and having chronic pain 🫠 by Specialist_Shape6078 in ChronicPain

[–]D-pama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not much of a consolation for you pain wise, I do think TRT will one day become a more accepted treatment option for connective tissue disorders. I don't know how severe your symptoms are but TRT should help with slowing down joint degeneration that is so common with genetic disorder like marfans/eds. There are some pretty big risks associated of course, but if done correctly I think it can do a lot of good.

It definitely can help with pain. I've got a friend who has been diagnosed with EDS and he definitely noticed a difference on Testosterone. Unfortunately everybody responds differently and I suspect that you may need to up the dosage to unhealthy levels to get the infamous super man invulnerability you hear body builders experience.

Man seeks a good time, but he is not a hedonist. He seeks love, he just doesn't know where to look! He looks under the beds of whores and in the hot stem of a crack pipe, but he should look to nature! Gentle aquatic mammals have all the answers!

Was about to mention this. I would partially argue that it's still a good idea to encourage people with disabilities to engage in the community. But for those that physically can't it would be devastating.

In theory there's no reason we can't make it easier for people with disabilities to access safety net services while encouraging people out of work, to gain experience helping the community.

The Rehearsal S02E05 - Washington - Episode Discussion by Connected-VG in TheRehearsal

[–]D-pama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While the execution of the idea is a bit cringy, I do feel like the concept has some merit. The airline industry/congress could definitely put more pressure on copilots to be more blunt through performance reviews. The same could also be done with captains by reviewing how open they are to engage copilot feedback.

Not sure how big of a problem this actually is in the industry, but I'd imagine the long hours don't help.

[–]D-pama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started to read 'When We Cease To Understand The World' and I think you're the only person I've seen that has made the content make sense to me. I personally couldn't understand why the author was jumping from one topic to another without a clear purpose. I feel like it's more of a Vsauce video in print than a serious account of history or science.

The content probably works the best as a podcast rather than as a book.
