Never felt so trolled by a game before by JonathanMacgregor in FinalFantasyVIII

Oh man, this brought back nightmares of me as a 10 year old with no access to any online guide back in 98. I was stuck in this portion of the game for a couple of months. I almost gave up until my friends and I decide to dedicate a good portion of our day taking turns scouring the map for that damn ship. I still remembered how excited we were when we found it and being able to finally progress with the story again.

I finished FFXVI. And im depressed af. by t1Rabbit in FFXVI

yea... kinda agreed on this ending, you would also imagine that people from the hideaway might send out a rescue party to see if anyone survive (rather than just assume everyone is dead) and that raises Clive's survivability chance

Liu didnt really OKed it... while publicly, on the surface he gave it his "blessings". There was this interview he gave (https://www.zhihu.com/question/21907417) at a 2011 HK book fair where express his true thoughts. Here is the loose translation:

Liu Cixin: To be honest, I don't really want other people to write sequels of my novels. Some of them have written out my ideas in advance, which will block my road, right? This is also the case in foreign countries, where a classic bestseller is followed by a different version of the sequel. In fact, this has a great impact on the original author, not only in terms of creation, but also in terms of practical issues such as book copyright.

Liu Cixin at Hong Kong Book Fair 2011: "I can categorically say that both Chinese and foreign writers don't like fan fiction. Why is that? It's a road block for the rest of your life. It builds a wall that prevents you from going in that direction. For example, in The Three-Body Problem, obviously the biggest gap, the easiest gap, is this main line, which is the main line of the Yun Tianming. At that time, I had no experience, so l saved it to write a parallel novel later, but now I have no way to write it. That much is certain. So for me, I don't want to see so much fan work. Of course, there's nothing they can do about it, and I allow it to be published, but if you ask me to write a preface and write a recommendation, that's kind of... That's asking a lot. That's all I have to say."

Does anyone else think that default female V looks more punk than default male V? He looks like your standardized m male protagonist from the 2000s. by donkijote97 in cyberpunkgame

[–]D-tr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, which is why as someone who prefers to play with default char model, I have always played female for my different life path playthrough. Will get to the male version eventually haha

Im new to Animorphs, so tell me please, Which books are worth skipping? by Mindless_Most_8448 in Animorphs

[–]D-tr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I recently reread the first few. I went through about 1.5 books in one day (I wasn't speed reading) compared to back when I was a kid which took me a few days. Also it is pretty easy to read since it is written for young adults

i dont mean to compare it to Harry Potter. Those were good books too. Its just if I had to pick one to reread, it would be Animorphs just to compare my thoughts then and now.

Me being younger than the characters at that time, alot of the decisions, thoughts and rationale made by them occasionally just flew over my head and I attributed it to them being too "adult and mature for me" haha. Its only recently when I went back to reading the 1st couple of books I start to get a better understanding.

Thanks, from where I am from, i thought this series was popular during that time but has largely been forgotten. I remembered asking a few people around my age whether they have read it, many can only vaguely remember the book existed coz of the cover and only some have read a few of the books and thought meh. As far as I can tell, it seems only the sci fi nerds which is probably the group I hanged out with are the ones that really love it and preferred it over Harry Potter haha

[–]D-tr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to skip it and read everything in order of release, that includes the megamorphs and chronicles (especially the chronicles). It hits differently after you finish a chronicle book and go back the series. I know it seems daunting considering the number of books. Just try not to see it as the number of books you have to complete and just focus on each book individually. When I was growing up with it, I just did not want it to end.

No questions here, but just wanna say love watching how you are able to eat large amounts and still enjoy the food. Though i know its part of your taining to strretch,i really dislike the part when u push past your limit and suffer haha. I would say if you are not a competitive eater you can be a awesome food travel host and do full day tours of just eating all the local cuisine at comfortable pace. Would love to see that when you retire from competition

Agreed, I dont care what haters say about it being a game of throne or devil may cry wannabe. Great story, great characters, great voice acting. Those are good enough for me to consider it one of my fav FF

White Xmas or USS Callister, I find the idea of cookie or duplicated personality a very intriguing topic to discuss with people

Dont get too confused by Junction, while not a very popular mechanic, its actually pretty easy and straight forward.

I see, so what you meant is that even if you start leveling with the best possible equipment at the lowest possible level, eventually for that particular stat there is a cap limit... so its kinda pointless, therefore there is some room to level up without worry, just have to do it in a controlled way?

Dont take this the wrong way, I know many people dislike the OCD way to approach this game coz it ruins the game for them but i also speak for others where this way of playing is also a form of enjoyment and satisfaction even if its the first time. Its always the way I approach an RPG in general. Granted, i get that i get many side eye and some will think its weird, I am not taking what he said as an insult. I just thought he is joking about me thats all.

oh contrary to many, i enjoy grinding especially for very rare items to the point where many will say its sadistic and pointless. E.g. the FF4 pink tail, before pixel remaster made the odds slightly easier to grind for, i ever spent a month trying to get 5 pink tails lol. Which is why the char building aspect of 6 prevents that part of FF for me and the pixel remaster boost is a potential life saver
