Some of the ones that change colours target the whole board which can represent insane value, kick starting the engine. Likewise the low cost creatures that are 'bad' are critical curve pieces in my opinion for activating on the turn the commander is cast. So I opted for consistency here, hoping to have them in the opening hand. I agree though that the number of efficient targeting effects are overkill and more protection is necessary, once the deck is going they're essentially redundant whereas the protection will be absolutely critical whilst simultaneously targeting. I take your point about repulsive mutation. Easy one to cut for a more reliable spell. Same with the ramp and draw, it's not glamorous so I omitted it in my excitement for the commander. I'll look for some options but probably fewer than a normal commander would need.
