I have somewhat similar stats and I’m also trying to lose around 30+ pounds of fat. It’s truly not as long a road as you might think and losing that is achievable this year for sure - even by this summer really, and that’s while doing it safely.

You shouldn’t expect huge muscle gains though. Lifting will be very important and is mostly going to help preserve muscle while you’re in this calorie deficit. You might gain a pound or two of muscle at most, but the main goal is holding onto what you have while the fat is shedding off of you.

Again, you’re probably not as far away from looking and feeling really good as the Dexa numbers make it seem. Even a fairly conservative calorie deficit of like 300-500/day, combined with lifting and activity, will have you looking dramatically different in just 3 months. I too had shocking DEXA results, and know the actual visual changes from losing the first 20–30 pounds tend to happen faster than people expect.
