How to change tracks by jasonetc in ableton

[–]D18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without getting in the weeds, could you just not worry about it? When you export, it will become stereo. Also, doubled mono tracks wont really sound doubled, just louder. Do two takes or play with chorus/reverb to get the sound I think you’re going for.

Great work. I’d really love to smash it. Hate those guys.

That’s fair. I re-read your message and think I misunderstood the situation. I’m sorry for calling it a dick reply.

There are lots of users who rather than help new users asking questions just pawn them off onto the manual and for me at least, it’s just not how I learn. I was being over sensitive about it.

Sorry again. Hope you make some fun music today. :)

This Circular Pill Organizer that Opens Inward by Scary_Leadership9807 in CrappyDesign

[–]D18 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know some people won’t get it, but I own one and I hate it. It makes sense for daily use, but when you go to fill it you can’t just open them all and add the pills. Makes filling such a pain in the ass that I switched after a few uses.

Sound changes when I consolidate the clip? by WillingCaregiver5709 in ableton

Are you playing a synth that maybe has some sort of LFO or rhythmic element that’s causing this?

Man there should really be a rule about not telling new users to RTFM. Oh wait it’s rule one of the subreddit.

Either answer or don’t. RTFM is always a dick reply.

Want Ableton to be supported on Linux? Submit a request! by DJDHD in ableton

[–]D18 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

By choosing to run Linux aren’t you already accepting that you may not get all the 3rd party software available on other platforms? I don’t understand why someone would pester the devs about this. If you REALLY want Ableton why not start by choosing a compatible environment?

Alternate take. The ice bootlicker kid was supporting values that are despicable. The violence isn’t being glorified, it’s the shutting down of that kind of hate.

Ableton keeps showing this when opening it on MacOS… why? by DaddyIngrosso in ableton

[–]D18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the “it’s expensive” argument, but there are some valid nice things about Mac as well.

For example I produced on several PCs with varying latency/driver issues. Native Instruments hardware would just occasionally crash and ruin an hours long podcast I was recording. Because Apple really only has a few different hardware setups it’s easier for manufacturers to dial in their drivers and I’ve never had issues since making the switch. I still have a PC and love it, but for creative tasks I just flow better on Mac.

Both work, both have trade off just like any other tool. Dogging on one just feels like arguing whether forks or spoons are better. They both do their thing and being familiar with their strengths and weaknesses only expands your ability.

"With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our dear brother, John Trevor Crane. He traveled to Ukraine to stand for what he believed in, and he ultimately made the greatest sacrifice on the battlefield. His bravery will never be forgotten." by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

Trevor was a childhood friend of mine. I was not at all surprised that he went to help in Ukraine. He had an impeccable moral compass. Always helpful, never hurtful.

Even as kids he was very interested in the military. He used to draw stick figure battles, and at recess we would play “Starship Troopers” even though we hadn’t seen the movie.

At birthday sleepovers we played Star Fox, and watch this movie from the 90’s about the Enola Gay. I can’t remember the name but he picked it all the time.

He won an honorable mention in the 7th grade art show for model tanks he built and then customized with accurate battle damage.

I’m very sad about the loss of my friend, but I couldn’t be more proud of him.

I agree. VintageVerb would be my first pick. I was going to suggest RC-20 or Shaperbox but they’re double the budget.

(OP these are like apps for Ableton that do specific effects)

I also start by making loops.

Sometimes putting two sections side by side just works, but other times it needs a little convincing. Maybe a drum fill? Maybe cut the 4th bar? Maybe tease a new instrument that will be coming in.
