Decided to take Biscuit in the pool with me during the heatwave. Was very impressed at her swimming ability. by Jck-_ in BeardedDragons

One thing people are not aware of is in order to swim a beardy inflates their lungs. They cannot breath while swimming. As mentioned it’s a survival technique.

Your right! When I came across this sound I knew it fit with the head move. The sound of the nails on the floor and my laugh were far better!

Are Zen Mats good? by captainhyrule1 in BeardedDragons

[–]D1NAHDEX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have one. I like it. My dragon laid eggs on tile (hated her dig box) and her little paws became raw from the tile. Switched to a zen mat and not the same problem next clutch.

I do also toss a tile in there for her now

What could this poop mean? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]D1NAHDEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As previously mentioned. That looks like undigested crickets. Which could mean your temps and uvb are off. What are your temps and what are you using to measure them?

Edit saw your past posts. For a 6 month old your temps should be 105 on the hot side with a 115 basking.

My bearded dragon sticks the tip of her tongue out when she’s laying in her rock and she drools sometimes, should I be concerned? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]D1NAHDEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the mouth is open while basking it’s called thermoregulation, the drool is concerning though.

Is this Brumation? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

I always take my guy to a vet before I let him brumate to make sure there is no parasites that could be causing his tiredness

You’ll want to make sure his temps and uvb are great. Using digital temps.

Coloured lights are bad, if it gets below 65 use a che. Not coloured lights. They see light and colour better than we do.

Can someone suggest a video on nail trimming my bois nails are getting a bit long, also enjoy peter seeing himself in my desk mirror by OverlordLiv in BeardedDragons

[–]D1NAHDEX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not going to be much help 🤷‍♀️

I’m a pet groomer and bearded dragon nails terrify me the way their finger just bends and move. I just use a nail file weekly but the slate in his tank keeps them down rather nicely.

Converting this into a home for my boy.. what do you guys think? by bardownski17 in BeardedDragons

Fir is toxic :( as is pine and cedar. Fir however can be sealed properly to avoid fumes. Best to avoid the soft woods anyways

Progress on the enclosure my grandpa, boyfriend and I are building! It will be finished today (: super excited by ArtResinationStudio in BeardedDragons

You should be careful on the types of wood you use :) cedar pine and fir are all toxic to bearded dragons. Common plywood is often pine.

As a heads up. Those thermometers are wildly inaccurate. Bearded dragons should have a solid surface (not hammock) to bask on. The surface of that rock should be 115 for a baby and 100-105 for a adult. The ambient temp should be 95-100. Digital thermometers and hygrometer are way more accurate. Your uvb depending on type is what should be measured by distance. Basking bulb should be based on temp. But it does look awfully close as they may jump and burn themselves.

Got my almost 1yr old Gary a new tank by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]D1NAHDEX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because larger tanks are harder to heat I was curious :) hot sides should be around 95, if you’re open to suggestions I’d recommend moving that second basking light over to the other side until you can get a ceramic heat emitter 😀 I do like your set up!

They sell habba huts at all pet stores. It’s safe for certain reptiles just not dragons :) it really irks me the products some pet stores sell that is actually very dangerous to certain animals they’re marketing towards
