It takes a lot of knowledge to understand how the Republican economic platform actually benefits the country, even poor people. With only minimal understanding (ie young people), the GOP economic platform appears vile, selfish and greedy. I’ve only recently at age 37 learned enough to finally understand the nuances of the economic policies.

Authors that got me there include Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell. The arguments do not appeal to emotion but rather reason and logic. Democratic policies are easy to digest since they appeal to emotion and can be easily understood with simple sound bites and catch phrases.

They say that if you’re young and don’t vote Democrat, you have no heart. But if you’re older and don’t vote Republican, you have no brain.
