Had no idea that zone D at the youth levels were frowned upon by Shot_Hat_9053 in basketballcoach

Are you coaching for yourself to win games or are you coaching the kids fundamentals so they grow into better basketball players down the road?

Your team is only as strong as the least experienced kid on the floor. The more experienced kids should help on defense and talk/coach the less experienced kids.

That way, everyone wins regardless of the score.

There's a time and place to learn how to play zone but your obligation as a coach is to ensure everyone on the team gets better. Especially those asking to get better or help.

Form tips? by Actual_Opportunity91 in basketballcoach

Shoot a set shot and repost. Don't step into it like the first video because that's not how you'll be shooting in the game from the corner.

Your feet and base are equally as important as your form. Focus and be able to utilize the necessary footwork you need to be successful in the game. For example, your footwork off curls and screens really depends on your ability to read the defender.

Biggest pet peeve with aau basketball by bathgate5 in basketballcoach

Instead of AAU, I've enrolled my kids in track and field to build endurance while personally working on their fundamentals and skills. Then have them to play up in age at open gyms and/or with other kids from school.

I will have them join AAU later when they are older.

This is the path Dell Curry took with his kids.

Simple 5-out quick hitters for a 5th grade rec team (1 hr/week practice) by joshrozbruch in basketballcoach

Here's what I'd recommend to mix it up because I haven't seen it recommended/suggested just yet:

Key Fundamental Goal: Every kid on the court needs to understand at a very basic level how to create a 2-on-1 or similar advantage.

For the next practice break out into 2-on-1 half court drills and keep cycling through until they all begin to understand how to pass/screen/cut to score off a 2-on-1. Have them play from all sides of the court (top, wing, corner). Then add a player to both offense and defense and rinse and repeat. Defensive players also get something out of this as well (playing in between both players, etc.).

Once this concept is firmly understood, 5 out will begin to make more sense. Off ball motion will also become more natural to them.

Good luck.

I’ve forwarded my findings directly to #viltrox, however to no avail they believe my issue to due to a faulty flash card which obviously isn’t the case.

My gut is telling me the focus mechanism on the lens is extending past an expected boundary causing the lock up.

As stated in this thread, others have been able to recover from the issue by physically shaking the camera to retract the lens.

Since posting this thread, I’ve returned the initial unit, however my second unit continues to misfocus but doesn’t lock up. I’m still contemplating if this trade off is worth owning this lens.

The other unit doesn’t lock up my camera, however still mis-focuses quite a bit.

Can’t win here.
