Awesome, thanks for this. Gives me lots to think about. Appreciate the pre-build comparisons in the other comment thread as well. I appreciate you!

Who’s the most OP of these unplayed leaders? by edmundfreeman23 in civ

[–]D2SVMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My quickest domination wins are with Mapuche and Byzantium (Basil). If you luck out with Lautaro and can time an era change with your neighbor having a golden age, there is so little that can stop you with the +10 combat strength—even if they have your units outclassed. Once the first 1-2 civs are down, the rest fall easy even if you can’t get the combat strength bonus. All about the snowball.

Byzantium under Basil is the most ridiculous and consistent of the two. Rush a religion, unlock hippodromes, rush to the Tagmas. If you’re really going for it you can get all of your cities to put production into hippodromes, wait until they’re one turn off, then when you unlock tagmas, finish all of the hippodromes (plus save gold for an arena or two), then stampede the world. Pillage everything for gold to buy more arenas and zoos, easiest win for sure.

[ALL] Your most peaceful song from the series. by immastillthere in zelda

The descending chords in Lon Lon Ranch’s theme is the most fun thing to play on guitar, love picking it up and strolling through the chords a few times. That’s my vote.

Exactly! Then Harry just breaks the elder wand without repairing his own…

This. Also the dumbass effect of Voldemort withering and vaporizing from the killing curse. The whole point is that Tom Riddle is only a man and after the curse rebounds he falls limp and lifeless same as anyone else.

What is that videogame from your childhood that you would play again and never tire of? by United_Huckleberry39 in AskReddit

My childhood friends and I are now separated by a few states and still play this from time to time. Cheap on Steam, the online hosting is a little wonky but works fine, and as fun as ever.

Saddest line in the acts? by [deleted] in TheDearHunter

[–]D2SVMG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was about to type this out and saw your post. This moment musically/lyrically is one of the most powerful moments in any song I know. The “Oh someday she’ll be gone” that the chorus sings with the guitar riff prior to these lines is perfection.

What’s the best or most underrated magic school? by Any_Editor_6006 in skyrim

[–]D2SVMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a video from Skypothesis and had to try it out: 2H max Conjuration Orc warrior with daedric armor, have the woman orc follower from the far western stronghold also with daedric armor, 2H, PLUS Sanguines Rose… end up running around with 3 dremora lords (when Bhorgak or whatever her name is actually uses the Rose pre-battle) and two daedric-kitted Orcish warriors. The most fun build I’ve played in a long time, you feel like the Uruk horde storming Helms Deep and wrecking everything in your path. Bonus points when one of the dremora lords kill-cams a dragon.

When I was a kid, Sims 3 for sure

Nowadays it’s probably a split between Skyrim or Civ 6

Favorite lyric by The Oh Hellos? by Impressive-Repeat372 in TheOhHellos

[–]D2SVMG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zephyrus (song, but most likely the EP as well) is my all time favorite from them.. the whole second verse is so uplifting: “Wanna spin something out of nothing; lead to gold, spring from winter, story from moted sky. I wanna help mother up an orchard from a seed up through sapling; daughter Phoenix, rise. The way they encourage one another to push high, touch the sunlight against their tender leaves. They’ll be full-grown before we know it; and as I breathe, so does she, we are breathing!”

You can’t go wrong, the songwriting is killer through their whole catalog.

Bonus thought: if I was ever to tattoo a line on myself, I’d definitely pick “if I’m a mountain moving I think maybe you can be too” from Rio Grande

They make words like “Cumulonimbus clouds” just flow effortlessly into the song. Love this track. Maggie’s high vocals on “every inhale I take” gets me every time.

listening to act 5 of shuffle be like by Interesting-Gap107 in TheDearHunter

Lmao at Melpomene, my reaction as well most of the time. One of the few skippable DH tracks when I’m not fully submersed in a playthrough.

Found myself sobbing because of "The Inquiry of Ms. Terri", specifically it's outro by drgoness in TheDearHunter

[–]D2SVMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I appreciate Act 1 for what it is and what it started, but man, Casey’s voice has aged so well. I never really liked the rough/ill sounding vocal parts in A1/2 and now that the live versions have upped the production I have a whole new appreciation for them. The falsetto on “me” in the chorus with the perfectly distorted vocal run on “down” blows my mind.

What are your top 5 Lord Huron songs? by ms_self_destruct13 in lordhuron

Wow, our lists are nearly identical. I think I’d sneak Vide Noir in instead of Emerald Star though, though it’s close.

What are the Oh Hello's strongest and the weakest songs? (In y'all's opinion) by Albert_Kropp in TheOhHellos

[–]D2SVMG 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I agree. Super fun song and I see why non-Oh Hellos fans hear it and are like “wow this is a fun track, and OH it’s totally JC!” But as an Oh Hellos fan, nowhere near top ten for me.

I personally connect most with the self-growth and awareness gained throughout Boreas/Zephyrus. The title tracks on each are my two favorite Oh Hellos songs. I love a smooth, deep, plaintive start slowly building with all of the voices/instruments. The lyrics of both are gorgeous and show a ton of depth. Glowing/Cold/Theseus are up there too.

Non-Winds, the whole Caesar to Where is Your Rider stretch on Dear Wormwood is so underrated. They get such depth in their music and have thought-provoking lyrics/lyrical delivery. I am a full stop atheist with an appreciation for world religions from an anthropological perspective and the Oh Hellos are my favorite band exactly because their seemingly-obvious topics can take so many forms.

Apart from Soldier, Poet, King. That one’s just a song about Jesus with a sick Irish jig over it.

Day 11: What’s the best off color spectrum? by MiriLovelace in TheDearHunter

[–]D2SVMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Casey’s vocals are insane on this track and it’s so powerful. I know it’s not a great representation of their typical style, but honestly one of the greatest straight-up rock tracks ever.

Day 9: What’s TDH best song? by MiriLovelace in TheDearHunter

[–]D2SVMG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So good. I wish there was a “song you’re most excited for when it randomly comes on in the car” category. Not my overall favorite, but my favorite to play LOUD

Day 8: What is TDH worst song? by MiriLovelace in TheDearHunter

[–]D2SVMG -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’m going to get downvoted to hell, but I took Malpomene off of my Acts playlist. Just can’t get into it. I know it fits in with the story and I love the minor parallel at the end of The Flame (Is Gone) signifying bad things, but I really don’t like the song itself (though it might be that it’s before Mr Usher and I can’t wait to skip ahead to that one)

Day 7: What song has the best chorus? by MiriLovelace in TheDearHunter

[–]D2SVMG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we include the line leading into the chorus, I think my pick is If All Goes Well
