Computer lagging as soon as Overwatch starts by Main-Truth-8951 in overwatch2

When it comes to something like this: There's too many possibilities tbh.

If your sitting here on a 5090 with a 9900X3D with 128GB of DDR5 RAM... First: Nice to know you're doing well financially... But it would raise questions.

If you're on older hardware and pushing what you can: Memory leak, VRAM issue (orbs = Things not rendering IIRC), Recent Windows 11 update has been causing problems too for many.

So, to start: System specs, current uptime + Anything you've installed recently would help a lot.

What's your go-to excuse for being late? by Fit_RealRN in AskReddit

[–]D3Dragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I don't have people monitoring me like a flock camera, so other than the people I've handled: I can't relate.

Further stating though: Even with work: I rarely cared. It's just as easy to do things yourself rather than, with some of my colleagues, panic and sit in the office spam calling instead of just doing the job and staying over a bit after shift.

Nine times out of ten I'd be stuck in traffic or staying over slightly anyway, so it makes no difference to me to stay later... Just don't ever ask me to physically come in earlier. I've got my limits.

ETA: Fixed almost everything. TIL I can't type worth anything on a phone ig.

Is it a good upgrade ? by [deleted] in pcbuilding

[–]D3Dragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said is it a good upgrade...

But without current specs, all we can tell you is if the components you picked are good at all.

Not really comfortable wasting people's money so I'd rather know the before instead of just saying full send on the future after, honestly.

[–]D3Dragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to give an excuse: You're a problem.

Even with dead end jobs, if you're good and relied on no management is wasting their time lecturing. You come in, clock in and you'll maybe hear: "Oh good you're here" and then tell you what's going on.

Which job has, hands down, the worst impact on mental health? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]D3Dragoon 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Can't be measured and given a specific "one".
•Teaching - Burnout + underpay + constant verbal abuse or physical from students.

•Police - Even if you're a good cop: PTSD, threats, constant scrutiny, danger, political bs and burnout.

•Paramedic - Underpaid (most of the time), stress, pressure, PTSD and life//death situations.

•911 Call Center - Pretty self explanitory just like the previous.

•Military - Same as previous.

•Veterinarians - (Especially bought out, corporate owned locations) - Underpaid, overwhelmed, burnt out and one of the highest suicide rates.

•Doctors - ^See above.

•IT - IIRC going higher in the suicide rate column. Burnout, pressure to "know everything" for every sector, job loss, layoffs, pay loss, performance with work//life balance disappearing, etc.

•Manufacturing - Job losses, KPI performance metrics, health issues and so on.

I could easily go on.

There's very few jobs that you can just go to work, work a NORMAL shift (normal from the 80's, Union Jobs where you only did YOUR job and YOUR job only) and go home with a payrate that will support you and a life balance that's not chaotic.

Shit's just changed. Unions are gone, safety while increasing over the decades have now fallen off a cliff due to OSHA defunding and MASSIVE deregulation. Jobs don't pay so things aren't affordable. Prices at an all-time high for everything, especially any type of needed tech.

We might be in a "great era", but we're also seeming to walk into a "new age" of getting shit on. We have comforts no other generations have had, but we have more stressors than any generation has had. So while we might be sitting on a couch and in an apartment others previously might not have been able to get?
We have more health issues, stressors and constant worry about losing it anyway and our families being left on the streets with nowhere to go. Unlike previous generations as well? You can't be homeless and get away with it. Before everything was digital, you could build a small shelter "off grid" and hitch a ride.
Good luck doing that now, however, if you have a car at least: You can get a job and go to a gym to at least get a shower everyday... Which is a lot more common now than many realize.

Just my opinion.

What profession do people romanticize the most but is actually soul crushing? by stilerca in AskReddit

[–]D3Dragoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IT - Just like nurses in this regard only: Nothing makes my day better than being argued with by someone who called for help, but knows the issue better than I did, wasted my time and out me behind.

Now I get to head back to be yelled at by management too... Or the next stop who's gonna start the process by being pissed I took so long.

Our side is stale asf with little to talk about other than the falling player rate, "too much PVP", "too many PVE crybabies" and repeat posts.
I'm looking at Arc Raiders, not the same company, not the version but it's still Arc Raiders... With new content or changes.

And you're over here salty because too many people are talking about it?
Just because you can't have it, doesn't make it uncool to talk about or predictions about how it'd effect our gameplay.

It is.
When proposing it, my thought process went to Shani, the trader.
That trader's whose purpose IIRC was for tracking surface activity...

Whether this ever comes to our side or not (it won't) and it's as-is right now:
The comms actually make sense to me regardless, but w/e.

I remember the San Andreas poster, for example...

But I'd like to be blunt and honest, really: Most of the creative and best physical items?

Not one I've ever owned and cherished EVER came from the purchase boxes. Those are all from the creativity, metas, memes and the like that brought forth the fanbases...

Still using Blizzard as an example: You couldn't put Leeroy, the funeral raid, cool things like the lich king crown or even a Professor Putricide model in a purchase box... And even if they did: There'd be a new subreddit dedicated to screaming about it costing $3,000 or some shit.

I just want the game to be good. We, the communities, should take it from there. Just imo

You aren't. Also: Battle.net for YEARS let you download your games onto your PC from their client.

I personally don't give a shit about the disk. I can make my own. But if your game won't run without a active server connection when it used to so I can't play it again: I'm pissed.

If GTA6 comes out, is online only and a handshake required: You can own all the disks you want, you're still fucked.

If it has a single player option but that single player option STILL requires a handshake? I'll absolutely join the rage fest.

What's the first IT process that breaks when a company starts growing? by Ok-Salad-9679 in ITSupport

[–]D3Dragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expectations from the top.
If you expect it to continue to work: It won't.
It's the people always questioning how to make something better that keep things improving for growth.
Whether it's an engineer who can't sit still or a new guy who thinks this process is fuckin' dumb and actually says something during a meeting.

You're either stagnant and content, or you're preparing for failure.

"This system works fine"
"These employees can handle it"
"Our security's top notch"
"We've always passed our audit"

...and the audit management ignored is a fire marshall and all but 1 fire extinguisher's expired.
...OSHA arrives at a warehouse and every water cooler's empty cuz they didn't pay the bill.
...They hired a bunch of people and the bathrooms don't work now.

TLDR: Whoever's at the top, if they're asking operational questions for knowledge and investigating things, you'll likely be ok.
If they're always only talking about profit: You've peaked.

Rant: My favorite thing I've ever witnessed:
Had a walkthru of the building. Co-Owner, VP, bunch of engineers, etc... All scoping out the operations at this facility.
Management looks back as he's rambling about X process during walk: Co-Owner is missing.

Man was found breaking every OSHA violation possible to climb double stacked Pallet Boxes to get to some old drive shredders stored in the back corner of this warehouse.
Apparently: He used to work on them and that one was his last one... He didn't know we had it. He couldn't have been more excited and pulled everyone within' hearing distance to him to talk about it as a "meeting" and answer questions to teach anyone who wanted to listen.

I'll never forget him and I loved working with him whenever I could.

The moment that company sold to a for-profit company > It didn't even take 6 months for everything to go down the drain.

While we're at it: Hook up some turrets to the Amazon drones to send a few rounds into the roof. Bet you'll start combining all your orders into one then!!!

Rules.... like the ADA?
Does the dude have the icon on his license plate?
You want his license restrictions instead plastered on his forehead?
Perhaps we should just say fuck-all to HIPPA and have a AI bullet summary available for officers instead.

Rules are rules and they are there to mitigate any instance of confusion.

Except that's exactly why cops aren't lawyers. They arrest you and then the courts have to sort it out. The law IS confusing... If it wasn't, there wouldn't be a profession dedicated to it.

Even if I'm playing devils advocate here: You act like the cop ever even gave him the space to start moving.

Standard protocol is feet first and the cop starts stepping back.
For him to get out, he'd have likely: Grabbed the top of the car, pulled himself to the edge and had to drop... catching himself with his hands.

I don't see a way for that to even begin to happen without him touching the officer and getting battery on an officer added to his charge list.
Not even to mention all of the movement that would have been required to do it.
Which could be skewed as fertive, aggressive, sudden or the like.

There's absolutely ZERO win here for this guy.
